Manitoulin Island - Smelt Run, Rainbows, and a Big Bass

We start off this trip with some smelt action and try to hit up some rainbow. It's a tough slog and a difficult fish, but at least we're out there in having a good time trying. Later in the trip we really pull out all the stops and bring out the paddle boat in effort to get on an ice out lake trout. We manage to spot some deer, spawning lake walleye, and a pheasant. I love the smelt run in the Spring. I went out and after a long drive to the river, I arrived and realized I had forgot my Waders. Oh well I stuck around and made a fire and spent the nite all by myself reading and drinking beer. Fished Steelhead the next day and than went home. well a few smelt and a nice bronze back paid off anyway. lets see some deer hunting on the island. take care bro.

That's a nice size bass where I live! I love the taste of a bass! And yes, the boat doesn't catch fish, it's the fisherman that catches the fish, and sometimes it's luck or just being in the right place at the right time. A -, 20, 000 bass boat does not guarantee you to catch fish. Ask me how I know that? LOL!

Being from Georgia in the Southeastern US, I've never had smelt. How do they taste? Are they as fishy as anchovies or mullet, or milder like sardines? How do you even cook a fish that small. frying them?
How did y'all cook them?
Love y'alls videos. Can't wait till you guys post new one's!

Was that a wild ringneck? Are they managed/hunted on Manitoulin? That is something I've always ALWAYS wanted to do, pheasant hunt. But not too hot to pay to do it at a -game farm- type place - lame.

Lots of big small mouth bass in that lake. fat small mouth. I think they are way better to eat than large mouth bass. Speaking of large mouth are there any in that lake or just small mouth bass?

If at first you don't succeed try the out field. An old Bugs Bunny slogan. One day I'd like to tell you about my Nantuket siay ride on Lake Mindemoia. Thanks Brian nearing 76

I agree, fish or no fish, it sure is GREAT to be out doors. Thanks for sharing and I hope your friend recovers quickly from those damn flu like systems. Best regards.
