the problem with gorge hooks that ive read is that you need a different size of hook for each size of fish like if its too big then it wont lodge in properly and it can slip out but too small and it wont get stuck at all, we know people have used gorge hooks because of the archaeological finds but the fact that they arent that effective is probably why there were abandoned. however i would argue that since they are quite easy to make in nature its worth playing with if you dont have the stuff to make a proper j hook. like how stone tools arent as good as metal tools but they are a damn site better than trying to carve a hand spindle with your teeth a gorge hook and a bit of string is going to be far better than trying to run around in a stream catching fish with your hands.

You guys lose me when you start talking EMT not going to happen. Look what you can do with a virus. To shut everyone down with a power outage is blame hackers in Russia and start a war at the same time. The hackers are made that-s just for the media.

You should make a small fire and actually temper the metal, all you gotta do really is heat it and dip it in water, bend the shape beforehand. Would probably help a bit

The gorge seems to work with smaller fish like perch. I saw a couple others do it, I think it was Fowler with a whittled wood and Hansler with an agave spike.

I've used gorge hooks before, and they're tricky, but i find they work best in fish with narrow mouths and throats (sunfish, crappue, with very small gorges.
