You may know about this trick, but a great way to feed your trouts is to just put a net over the lake in the summertime. If you have some spare meat you would throw away anyway, just put it on the net. The meat will get filled with maggots, that are basically 100% protein, and those maggots will drop down to the fish. It smells really bad, but if you hunt a lot, it's a brilliant way of converting spare meat into nice fish. The best thing may be, that any road-kill you find will be amazing too, so if you can stand the smell, you will get so much fish back, you won't believe it!

This sort of bothered me. I love your videos they're great. If you're going to move fish from one place to another without killing them you have to acclimate them to the other body of water. When they change from a warm pond to a cold pond they have to become accustomed to that water. That's why you should put that water in the buckets. Shame on you if you did not do that. I hate seeing fish die due to uneducated people.

Could he (your brother) just add more soil to the lower end of the pond to make it deeper? Build the wall higher on the down hill side? Is the water source good enough to fill it more? If there's a drainage pipe, just raise it. I use a bucket and battery operated aerator when fishing for trout to keep them alive longer. I like the solar aerator for the pond.

The aerator does not provide 100% of the oxygen per se, it just disturbs the water surface so that gas exchange between the atmosphere and water will be easier because there is no water tension. It also prevents the formation of protein film (that oil slick looking substance that forms on stagnant water), helping also in the gas exchange.

Ask if you can borrow a zane from lyndon. Throw out some feed, and pull the zane across the pond behind the fish and pull both ends slowly towards the bank. But I think the right move would be to stock the pond with perch instead. They handle hi temperature and low oxygen a lot better. And they are good eating. / fishfarmer

Theres no way that pond is gonna do it. I dont want to be the bearer of bad news but trout need atleas a meter of depth, and way bigger of a pond. They need huge amounts of airation and in that size of a pond they will get stunted and not grow

Down here in SW Virginia I-m looking into the permit process of building a fish pond-roughly a half acre, and then getting a fishery license. This helps to reinforce that idea. A great video as always Chris.

If you fed them before transportation and putting into a new environment they usually die.
How much is the Solar aeration system. I-m going to go for the Windmill myself.

Wetting your hands before you handle the fish you catch is very important. Hot dry hands remove the protective slime on the fish and give it less chance of survival -
