I still think this outfit (U. S. M. C) is the best branch of fighting men in the world, and anyone who has seen the Marines in action will say the same. They are always the first to make the landings where the fighting is tough. The old saying is: A Marine is never satisfied until he has his feet on someone else's dry land. That's an excerpt from a letter home from my dad (R. I. P) after landing in the Solomon Islands 1942. Mom served in the Womens Marine Corps in Camp Lejune Carolinas. Best wishes to Connor!

My son is a former Marine. He went in, in 2002. He had the good luck to fight the battle of Falluja. He was unscathed there, but he was hurt mentally because several of his friends were killed. He had to go back for a second tour in 2006. He got shot in the arm and again saw several of his buddies get killed. He asked me if he could get out of the Marines, and I would not be mad. I cannot tell you how I felt. I served but never in combat. Yes he got out. I love my son more than any person today.

Oh so he's coming here. I live in Beaufort and my father has been in the Marine Corpse for 28 yrs. I'll tell him congrats when he is out of boot camp if I see him. Are y'all coming to watch him graduate? If so he can ride a carriage tour around the historic part of the town (it's my job) for free. I wish him the best, he's joining the toughest of the tough!

The next three months are going to be rough! Write plenty of letters! You can join Parris Island Family on Face Book. You may even get to see pictures of him. I do recommend going up and doing the tour on Wed before they graduate, family day, and Graduation is only 1 hour. Godspeed Connor, Thank You for your service and sacrifice! OORAH! Simper Fi Recruit!

That is so cool he is going in as an aircraft mechanic. He will certainly have a job that he can do forever. I work as an aircraft mechanic overseas right now. I have been doing this most of my life off and on. It is much better than him being a grunt. The aircraft skills will keep him from roughing it all the time.

My son has been in the Marine Corps for two years now. Going to Parris Island on family day to watch the Moto run and graduation the next day was the proudest weekend in my life. Order t-shirts for yourselves with his name, platoon and Company on it for family day. It will be a day you will never forget. Oorah

That was hard to watch. Darn onions got to me, and he's not even my son. 'Proud' is too weak a word. He'll be different when you see him again Darcie, but it'll be a good different. I'm proud of your whole family. Many of us out here don't take those sacrifices lightly.

BZ on starting the path towards becoming a Marine! Great video and remember what MARINE stands for: My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment. If he ends up on a ship of mine, I'll take him fishing.
