In this Catch, Clean and Cook we prepare the blue runner, a species of the jack family. This saltwater fish is found in the Atlantic ocean and is usually used as a bait fish. The Blue Runner is considered to be a trash fish for cooking, but we prove this common misconception wrong with a taste test. We caught a few Blue Runners while deep sea fishing. We also caught couple mutton snappers while bottom fishing around a wreck. We made the runner into a poke bowl. This is a Hawaiian dish, Poke bowl means to slice or cut and refers to chunks of diced raw, marinated fish (usually tuna) which is then tossed over rice and topped with vegetables and homemade poke bowl sauce. This was an easy fish recipe, turning a TRASH Fish into a gourmet meal

Hey Darc, do you do slow pitch jigging? I recently started making assist hooks I would like to send you some to you for field testing. Do you have any hook size in in particular or specific species to target?

You are supposed to drain the blood out of blues right after you catch them. I thought the little blues taste better, and they are good bait fish. I used them cork fishing for king macs.
