Giant Yellowfin Tuna Catch & Eat (Graphic) How To Rig a Split-bill Ballyhoo Tim: Any tuna over 100lb (suspected by hit and run) I am not ashamed to put on my Braid Ass Bucket and harness. The first big tuna I ever caught out of venice when i was in my 20s on my first trip with Reel Peace didn't mention anything about harnesses or gimble belts and I was probably 40 minutes in and i had kept him within 30' deep for what seemed like an eternity, take 2 cranks, lose 3, take 2 lose 4, take 6, etc and I finally was in so much agony I told my brother to take it, and captain Timmy said don't you dare hand off that fish, man up and finish it, and I did barely hang on and landed it weight out -139lbs, big for summer tuna. Timmy cut out its hart and smacked me on the face with it. Anyway, I have lost a 175-200lb 20 feet down pulled the hook, so I know how hard it is to boat them -125 plus. After that fish about killed me, Capt timmy pulls out a stand up harness (no clue at the time how it worked) and I about cried. He made me suffer for an hour+ then showed me the cheater way, and laughed and admitted he never goes without on bigger tuna. Nice fish congrats, making me hard core want to go.

What a Fantastic video, Gabe! I have never hooked into a monster like that, every time I heard that reel scream I had to pick my jaw up off the floor, knowing full well how much pressure that drag was putting on that fish! I've seen you tackle big fish before and never tag off, but to watch the boat gymnastics just to bring in all the line it took on that first run, was epic! Something that rarely gets said is how important a skilled Captain is. I dare say with a less experienced Captain this would have been a video of heartbreak, mourning the fish that got away. Luckily though you had The legendary Capt. Bob and his crew, and that fish thread a gauntlet of sharks until it was brought over the rail and in the pail for all of us to drool over! You know that after this there is no going backwards. I've heard some great things about Latham Island for spearing giant tunas. What are your thoughts on a trip to Zanzibar?
ps - It was Amazingly Great to see Joe VT back in his natural habitat! Can't wait to see what insane videos he'll have coming down the pipe!

That won't be your biggest fish ever! One day you will get your biggest. Wished these YF were land-based haha. Rather not spend a grands on these trip lol. But I did know a mullet fisherman caught one in cast net inshore in Clearwater Florida, weird occurrence. It one of these year when it was absolutely bizarre. Catching mahi on the pier which isn't supposed to happen. My buddy got one on the beach. There a story online somewhere about mullet guy catching yellowfin in a cast net

I don't have the palate for any kind of blood, that iron taste does NOT go well with any medical conditions I have. I still would have tried a bite of that heart though. Maybe get a torch and burn it a bit, then bite it. I've seen a video of someone making some instant sashimi from a tuna while out on the ocean, not sure who, DMFD, Kelly or BG, who knows, but I would tear that fresh tuna up! Can't get no fresher than that!

Neat how you know what the fish is thinking i. e. -doesn't even know he is hooked yet-. Several points: Gabe did not catch that tuna. That was a collective activity. The fish stripped so much line because the boat was still moving under power for a minute after the hook up, not that that one couldn't have burnt the drag plate up. It sure liked the shade under the boat. Good job everyone!

I am paralyzed and I-ve been in the chair for going on six years this August I Was shot 10 times while celebrating At a tailgate in Flint Michigan. Since my accident I have been in a lot of pain and really depressed but while watching your videos it takes the pain away and makes me really happy just by watching you guys have fun and enjoying each other-s time as a family and with friends

Thanks for posting the journey. Only a dream for me to ever get to fish those Tuna so I get to live vicariously through videos like this. - I can tell you if I did ever get to do this I would have it in the rod holder for sure but I would take it out for just a second to get my butt kicked and feel that humbling experience.

BUILT D I F F E R E N T. Honestly Gabe taking a shot of straight soy sauce was worse than the heart --- what an awesome memory with you guys. Gabe is the only person I would let rig his own bait and yell at me to grab a gaff -

Are the fish stronger on east than west? I've seen long range videos of ppl pulling 250+ lbs yellowfin on rod and reel without using the pole holders.
I feel like different waters breed different strengths.
