Howdy my friend. Just a few quick comments. I can tell you don't like rolling sinkers on deck either. LOL.
Now I know what John Dory is when i hear Gordon Ramsey talking about it on the menu.
That John Dory looks like a combination of three fish here. The mouth - A Lookdown - The body a File fish. The fins - A Rooster fish.
When you saw the Thresher shark we get them here during the Winter cooler months. We had one boatside last year that we estimated at approx 14 - 16 feet from head to the tip of that LONG tail. By the way. since this is an older video and i'm just now watching it. The net didn't seem to give you any problem like in the Bass video you just posted. Anyways. great job again my friend! Tight lines and calm seas. To you from me. Your friend on the other side of the pond.

I had no idea John dorey got to that size I thought they were no bigger than an average cukoo wrasse.
I know at one time people didn't eat em they just used em for pot bait but same goes with monk fish which as you know is very expensive but a lovely eating fish -

do excuse me i know nothing about fishing, im kinda confused when you say they wont go back? they are fish and your on the water? do you mean they dont have the energy to swim cos theyve been out of the water too long? just an honest question as i have no experience

Hey bud. Love your videos. I'm in Oregon and teaching myself surf fishing out here for the last 5 years or so. I wanted to point out at 16: 08. What is that about 100+ yards out in the water. Just behind your back and shoulder? It's not bright enough to be a buoy.

Opine: waste of time on that John Dory. It became fish food when it hit bottom. You should deflate them and put them back first thing. You can buy or make a needle to deflate deep water fish. I think you spend too much time handling them.

Hi mate, please try to bring your fishes up slowly for they maybe sensitive to pressure variations. We have similar species of fish that are, basically, ultra sensitive.
We are not allowed to fish live baits.
