Just a note. You destroy the vertebra of a fish if its lifted by the tail. It also ruptures the blood vessels along the spine crippling the fish. Its very important not to lift your fish by the tail. YOu can see the damage if you lift a fish by the tail that you plan to keep and eat. You will see the broken blood vessels in the meat around the tail area.

I lived in Wawanesa for a few years and fished the Souris River mostly for Catfish and Pelican Lake for Walleye, which are a dark green hue, wished I had the chance to catch the Greenbacks of the Red River and Winnipeg River for the kind of monsters you feature in this video, I'll be back. someday!

Wow! Talk about guts! This is true hardcore walleye fishing. 99% of fisherman would blow this day off. It sure paid off for you and probably no regrets even if you lost a finger or toe to frostbite lol! Im watching this in +35 degree celcius weather and I feel cold. Thanks for the video!

4: 48 I was fishing that spot in the Winnipeg River Greenback Championship, caught two 26 inchers there just on a jig and frozen shiner. Caught a 28 incher that was 9. 67 lbs and a 27 that was 9. 25 pounds on the mudflat spots as well, first time there.

Dude! I produce videos and fish. APPLAUSE for the efforts you put into both, I know how tough fishing can be in November (cold and miserable but also awesome bytes) but to film in those conditions. WOW. Thanks for sharing!

The MNR missed the boat with invasive species, mostly from freighters on the great lakes but we have had a few species and the fisherman knew they were a problem before the MNR caught on?

First fish caught on the second day at around the 16 minute mark had a red spot behind the peck fin. Would that have been from a lamprey, leech or something else?

i don't know man, that looks cold as balls. i guess if i had the right gear and a little propane heater to warm the hands after handling a fish i'd be down.

What about the boat motor freezing up on drive back? Id worry about freezing the impeller. In Alaska Id have winterized my boat by the first freeze.

I have to admit I've never seen a walleye like that one at 8: 10. Not seeing the black bands, and the odd bluish coloring isn't what I expect.
