Pro Tip; At first ice try to find an occupied beaver lodge. The active lodges can be identified easily, they will have a winter feed pile of branches/twigs sticking out of the ice right in front of the lodge entrance. Drill holes all around the feed pile. Use a gold/red Little Cleo with a 12 fluoro dropper line to a size 02 octopus single hook & a 3-6 inch sucker minnow, hooked in the vent. You'll be amazed at the results. I caught a PB 7lb'er & dozens in 3-5lbs range.

No sure how i missed this little gem of a video. This took me back to the 70's ice fishing with my grandfather. We we sophisticated, we had bambo sticks and old hockey sticks with dacron line as rods. We spooled the line onto our rods by using two wood screws set about 6 apart. Not fancy but what excitement as a kid when your bobber pulled under the water. Thanks for the memories.

Bahahahaha! AWESOME video!
Yes you really dont need the flashers and tents!
Your video brought back a lot of great memories of my Dad taking me out. He made all our rigs and he punched holes in the ice with a giant steel bar. so thank you for that!
You guys be safe to and thank you for sharing!

Nice job. such a great point, it's so easy to get caught up in the gear side of the sport and gimmicks. When I was in Cuba we fished with a Yo-Yo, which was a piece of circular wood that held line, a hook and a piece of bait. Thats all! Great vid, left you a thumbs up.

Thank you for this video. Brings back a lot of memories fishing with one of my grandfathers. No sonar, no jig rods, ice chisel, small jigs, fish paddles, and grandfathers old school knowledge and will to catch fish. THE SIMPLE LIFE!

This was a nice surprise. Ice-fishing is here! I would love to see first ice soon on Lake Simcoe. Great job catching that beautiful fish and your editing skill are superb too. Cheers from Barrie.

I'm from Central Ontario. Ice should be safe soon enough. I almost always use an axe, even late in the season with thick ice. Just as easy as a manual auger.

Perfect video. Thank you. Lets me know essentials of what to buy. What is the temperature average while ice fishing? Is it often below 0?
