Here is the story of my introduction into archery hunting. Thanks to all the people who have helped me along the way. I Norman: You have a good form when your shooting the bow and good groups (nice ribbon hood. But always try the broadhead to make sure it's flying good. I know it's easier to be able to shoot field tips for practicing but that's not what your doing, your hunting and in turn you must tune the bow to shoot the best it can with hunting broadheads. Then shoot the field tips again after the bow is tuned and you will see maybe no change or you will see a change. But you will know the bow is shooting hunting broadheads where you want them to go. Then for practicing if the group isn't a large difference in size you can still use your field tips. I shoot a fixed blade broadhead and my bow is tuned to them. Then when I practice with field tips my group is right 3 inches at 40-50 yards and I don't care about being off with them, I care only about muscle memory and keeping that practice group tight no matter where they are hitting, good shooting form is hard to get right and it's really easy to get lazy or pick up bad habits. That's why you will be a good bow hunter you have a good form and that's what will make you consistent. Then I put a hunting broadhead on and make sure it's hitting my target on the money. Congrats on your first deer with your new bow and you self filmed it from the ground that's impressive. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SAM.

Well congrats on the doe. I am far from an expert but have a few pointers for you. First off start following John Dudley and Nock on, check out the school of nock for anything you want to learn. John gives away all his knowledge for free. Second those broad heads are no good, jack knife style mechanical head absorb alot of energy when deploying the blades. They will do on deer but don't use them on elk or moose! Third I would say you made a less then perfect shot because your form broke down when you took your shot. You body is open towards the target and you front shoulder has collapsed up and towards your body. Remember to try practice shooting out of a blind while sitting in a chair if that's how you plan to hunt. FYI If you shoot out of a tree stand you have to bend at the waist and not simply drop your front arm. Anyways congrats again and good luck in the future.

Alright, I was hoping that you would be a bow / deer hunter as well. I grew up fishing and hunting and it kept me out of a bunch of trouble as a youth. More people need to get into it. I live in Ohio and we have great bow hunting and fishing as well with Lake Erie. Get to know the bone structure of the deer and where the heart and lungs are on the deer. Their is more room to get closer to the front shoulder without actually hitting the shoulder. But for your 1st deer with a bow, great job. Looking forward to seeing your next bow video. Love the saying grace at the end as well. You guys up their in Canada have some of the most beautiful land in all of the world. Enjoy it

I enjoyed the fact that you mentioned that you hoped the deer didnt suffer too much. Too many hunters go out there especially during gun season and just blast away at them. Not caring if they simply injure the deer. I have seen way too many deer out in the woods wounded and suffering because some dont take the extra time to make a good shot. Ive always wanted to make sure to make the best shot possible to make it as quick as possible for the deer. I feel I owe it to them as I am taking their life. I should make it as painless and quick as possible.

Loved this! Very raw and honest. As an upland game bird hunter, I can relate. Harvesting a beautiful bird or deer can be such a spiritual moment too and I thought it was very appropriate to include your prayer of thanks with Sam. On a related note, I usually take it for granted but I just want to say thank you for always providing 100% clean entertainment. There's never a swear word. That's not the norm. I never have to worry about watching one of your videos and it's appreciated.

Welcome to the club! The hooks are in and they wont let go. Great video tapping in to what a new hunter needs to do to get it done. The practice. The scouting. You did it all. Next up, dropping a hammer buck. I love catching big walleyes like you do but the emotions of bow hunting are second to none. Thanks for sharing and keep the hunting vids coming. Congrats!

I love how you captured the beginning to the end. I havent reached into big game hunting really yet. I am still 90% angler, 10% hunter and I stick to small game. Perhaps because that's all my father did.
I believe I would need a mentor to hunt with and learn from, someday. its bucket listed.

If you are not already, processing the critter brings you to another level. You will find yourself changing up on your cuts through the years as you find new recipes and ideas. and then you'll discover charcuterie and will need more tags.

Any harvest with a bow is a great accomplishment. I urge u to watch the ranch ferry, fixed blade broad heads, the since behind it, heavier arrows for more ethical shots, the nerd in you will love the science.
