You were very lucky people, looking at your video it didnt seem as if there were any lifejackets on board however if there were some in a locker why was you not wearing them? How long do you think you would stay afloat without one? It seems, as you were talking, that you are very familiar with just how the weather can change in the area, so why would you risk staying out there knowing that the storm could possibly hit you personally I would say that due to the actions you took thinking that the storm may miss you that you are extremely irresponsible putting yourselves at such a risk, thankfully nothing happened to you but if it had then other people would have had to risk their lives to come out and rescue you. Im really glad youre safe but you must learn to respect the sea.

Sort of helpful video, but what exactly would you have done differently, so the viewer understands the best practice in the event they find themselves in a similar situation? Yes, EPIRB and life jackets, but what else? Boat away from storm, try to evade it? Hang on for dear life? Pray?

Clouds just don't show up. When you see dark clouds in the distance it's time to move in closer to land. Also I like the Iv been on boats since I was a kid. But they are in a bad storm with no life jackets. Yeah that's fine, sounds like a ton of experience here.

take every class the Coast Guard Aux offers, and stay away from Alaska. You would be dead right now. You two are Fairweather boaters.
Thank you for your honesty, you two might have saved some ones life. that's really what it's about.

so what was your course of action? Looks like you headed straight for the storm (probably out of necessity, did you make any distress calls? Not a sailor here. actually i live in Az, furthest thing from the beach

Lol 30knot wind in a 6. 4m boat in 5ft white caps try being in a 5m boat with 4m swell, water coming over the cab with the bilge running while your ankle deep in water. That makes you pray!

Been there, done that. Electric storms all around, lines buzzing, electricity shocking us, dropping my rod and reel into the ocean when I got shocked. We were blessed to survive!

I once nearly fell over the reilling while fishing in bad weather with soaked clothing in norway.
I later realised that I had forgotten to put on my lifejacked.
