In this Catch, Clean and Cook we went free diving in search of the Cockroaches of the Sea, for the opening day of Florida Spiny Lobster Season. These bugs, are some of the best tasting seafood we have in South Florida. Spiny Lobster live in saltwater and are found throughout the Atlantic Ocean where the water is warm, we caught ours in Ft. Lauderdale. I show you how to catch, clean and cook the lobster tails in this video. I prepare the tails Lobster scampi style and they were delicious, a must try lobster recipe. The lionfish are an invasive species on the reef and were speared. Knife seen in Video: New Shirts Now Available:

To make cleaning the poop shoot on these Bugs, simply tear off ONE antenna, and insert it into the rear hole, with the spines facing forward. You'll only need one to clean all of your catch.
One of the photos showed a Cuban or Spanish lobster, and in Florida waters, they do not have a size limit nor a limit, and they do not count towards your 6 per person limit. Check it out!

On the cheese, it's also better to use a block and grate it yourself because the shredded cheese you buy has (or at least mostly) has been treated with a chemical coating to keep all the pieces individual. No bueno on the pre-shredded stuff if you want the best results and enjoy cooking. That said, nothing wrong with using it in a pinch or when you can't be buggered!

Looks simple but gourmet. Nice job guy on the catch and clean. Learned the membrane trick. What a true FL boy simple but fine cooking. Only thing old country grandma would like more in the pasta maybe some halved kalamata olives n maybe some more fresh roma cheese on top or feta with fresh basil. No disrespect at all just ideas.

The only thing i can say is: you are all for the trash fish catch and cook and it never occurred to you to eat the invasive one? I've eaten them before. Be careful cleaning not to spine yourself as they are venomous but otherwise they are tasty and you should try to eat them rather than just kill them to kill them

You pushed the vein out because you didn't do it right. You stick the small end of the antennae into the anus, then it pulls the vein out. I fished commercially out of Stock Island, so I've done more than a few.

Anyone who calls lobsters cockroaches is an idiot. They are crustaceans with external bone structure (shell. That does not make it a bug or a cockroach.

Try boiling the pasta in chicken broth. Its cheap, and it gives it a little extra kick of flavor than just boiling it in water.
