Hardware news this week talks about Intel's GPU decoder challenge, the silicon shortage easing eventually, NVIDIA's crypto self-own, System76's Linux desktops, and more. C sar: 7:19 yes, I am one of those guys, I am using RTX 2070 super, I do have one 4k monitor that is 60 mhz and I wish to play my AAA titles in at least this configuration but is too much for my card , I can reliably lower the resolution to 1440p and it play fine around 50 to 60 fps in most games, I was hoping to improve with the new generation but I will be playing games with this card probably for another year until I can upgrade for a decent price, maybe one 3070 ti or super with a bit more Vram is all that I'm going to need.

I am currently running an fx6300 1050ti PC that I built about 6 years ago (changed GPUs because R9 270x died)
Mostly just play CSGO which is barely demanding but doesn't run at 144+ FPS that my monitor is capable of
Looking to upgrade but this current environment just makes me keep playing as I am for as long as either my PC dies or I am able to buy CPUs and GPUs at MSRP
No way I'm overpaying, even a single dollar.
I am now targeting the next generation because I see no point in buying a completely new 1.5k+ (as converted from my currency) PC only for it to be old gen like 2 quarters later.
I'm being forced to wait and bare bad performance, might as well wait all the way and buy brand new products.

Interfaces. Hardware interfacing. G.N. Please showcase the changing faces of interfacing with ones P.C. I know it may be too big and wide, but given time, you could find a way to fit it in. Gaming Nexus
We are all being bombarded with new ways to absorb content. From glasses, gloves, and even light-driven keys, the Monitor may not be the be and end-all of playing games or using your rig.
Is this space something you'd consider delving into?
Ewes you are not. All comers are schills. Not G.N.. Break the code to buying into modern interfacing modalities. In some manner?

I always laugh when I hear silicon shortage LOL Funny how it seems to only be hitting certain companies. I havent upgraded my PC in 10 years or so. I am still on an FX 8350 with dual 970s. I was looking for ward to building a new PC and really seeing the difference. I've decided against it. Between their greed and incompetence, Its not even worth it any more. Thousands just for a cpu or a gpu? Id love to hear the justification for that. Than add on the scalpers and miners.....Ya, its a major nose dive any way you go.Good luck all.

The GTA load times are a really interesting story. On one hand it would have been really simple to detect and fix by the devs since they have the source code and can profile it easily. On the other, it just shows how much pressure there must be in the game industry that no one could get a chance to even do that. Possible huge loss of a lot of money due to players quitting for load times. If only R product management prioritised a little bit of maintainance instead of pushing content all day

I find it weird that anyone would believe that that driver update for the rtx 3060 was accidental. 3060s were piling up in big german resellers. A short while after the update came out, prices went up over a 100e and everything was gone. I think this also shows that its not just 10-15% of the buyers that are miners but probably much more. Even without the stock not moving, saying that nvidia accidentaly pushed such a driver is weird.

Yes I am one of those people you asked about - I'm about to give up. I've had a pre-order in since JANUARY at Canada Computers for an EVGA 3080 (originally was on pre-order for a gigabyte card until they called me and just straight up said it is not coming and I was welcome to get in the EVGA line...). The moment the 3080ti gets released, if my card hasn't come by then (which is probable) I'll be giving up and waiting on a 3080ti.

I have 1080 non-TI in a small card package. Definitely not the card I want in 2021, but I am waiting. The difference in prices is so huge I went and bought stuff that was overstocked. Like Oculus Quest 2 from Italy. I am just waiting since I have the privilege to wait. There is no sense in over-paying for something I will be stuck for 4-5 years anyway. There are IPS panels and other things to upgrade for cheap.

I really need a new GPU as both fans broke on my RX 480. So it really sucks that it's another 7 months. I would just wait until the next gen of GPUs as i really wanted a RX 6800, but there is no way they will be at MSRP any time soon. So i'll most likely have to settle on a RTX 3060 ti or a RTX 3070 if i wait this year. I could just buy new fans off ebay, but i don't really wanna invest more money into this GPU.
