Announcing the New GN Modmat 'Volt' PC Building Anti-Static Mat

Our Original Modmat and Medium Modmat designs are also in stock & shipping now! We're extremely excited to announce our new GN Volt Series Modmat. It took us a year of design revisions, testing, QC & validation, and production to get these made. This new 'Volt' Series Modmat is part of our popular series of Modmats that we've been selling for 4 years now, and it packs-in a ton of detailed technical reference material on the surface of the mat to make PC building more convenient, custom loop builds more accessible, and tear-downs or mods easier to track and organize. The GN Modmat series offers rugged, high-quality anti-static mats to protect your table and the parts you're working on. These are a heat-resistant, anti-static rubber that can be used with heat guns or during PC assembly and disassembly. Learn more in the video above or on the store page! We have sold out of Modmats within days or weeks every single restock for 4 years now, but we're doing our best to keep inventory available. This is our biggest restock yet -- we literally had to knock down walls at our distributor's warehouse to fit the order! Eric: I'm a proud owner of an original Modmat and I only have positive things to say about my Modmat. And it seems that the things that annoyed me with the static bracelet connector have been fixed in the V2. And the new designs seems more forward compatible than the ones on the original.
Too bad that my V1 Large Modmat is still in a pristine condition. I can't justify buying a new one.

Hey Steve while we're at this topic. I just build a new PC about 3 weeks ago, and thought i buy the GN toolkit, but for me it was a bit to big in size, and doesn't have tools for smaller repairs and stuff that i mide need in the future. So i looked at the ifixit kit, and it seems the quality of it isn't on par with your tools. So maybe it would be a good idea to make a GN bit kit whit tools for smartphone/gamepad (like the stadia one, just kidding) and so on tool as well as the standard pc tools, but with high quality in mind when it comes to the metal used and especially the hardnes of the bits. I just love the way you guys aproach these things, and would love to see something like that in the future.
P.S. Sry for the somewhat caotic writing here. I don't have a lot of time now, but wanted to get this comment out so you and as much ppl as possible have the chance to respond on this with there own comment or just leave a like if they like my idea.

Wait, no DDR5? This will become obsolete by the end of this year! NOT BUYING! ;)
Not that they're useful... but more useful than Skylake-X outline! :D
I actually appreciate front and back GPU outlines for screws, the GPU is the only thing I've taken apart several times and this is a genuine improvement over the old modmat.
Ethernet jack wire colors would have also been a good idea in the original! It's not too late for home users still, my parents won't have SFP inserts any time soon, so this part I approve of 100%!

Hey Steve,
Exciting news on the new modmat. Do you think a future revision could feature a magnetic layer under the gpu silhouette? Is that plausible? It's be cool if the fasteners would be held down magnetically. Not sure if it's plausible to do in just once location in the mat or if the whole thing would have to be magnetic, because I could imagine you don't want to whole mat to be magnetic.

Nice, it looks like a good evolution form the standard modmat.
One question:
Why didn't you include the DDR5 sizing, ad it will probably become be introduced the next year to mainstream markets.
Thanks as always wor your in depth reviews.

I was sorely disappointed in the offerings for a heat resistant working mat for soldering and heat gun use. I haven't felt the need to get one of your modmats for working on my computer, but I might finally nab one for that stuff. =)

Current mod mat owner commenting for algorithms and stuff. People - these mats are professional grade and worth every penny.
Actually, they are nicer than most. I know, I've worked in PCB factories since the 20th Century.

Hi Steve, Please find a way to make shipping cheaper for Europe, please. Really want to buy some things but with the current shipping, it is kind of difficult.
Thanks a lot and keep the great work.

Just picked this up! Happy it was payday for me so I could support Snowflake's research into the thermal conductivity of cat-nip. Keep up the great work and actual journalism in the tech space!

Sorry, not making fun of you, but is 1:22 how Americans in general pronounce protractor . Here in the UK I have only ever heard it like projector or protector . Just wondering...
