NVIDIA's Rip-Off - RTX 4070 Ti Review & Benchmarks

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
This review and benchmark of the NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti looks at NVIDIA s newest GPU vs. the RTX 4080 16GB, talks about why it would have been beyond disingenuous (and just straight-up lying) to call it an RTX 4080 12GB originally, and how NVIDIA is stuck in a hard place. The 4070 Ti is, and never will be, 3x better than the RTX 3090 Ti -- despite NVIDIA s misleading marketing to the contrary. It is hardly better than a 3080 -- and sometimes not even that -- and its positioning forces NVIDIA to choose between two bad options: One, they could call it a 4080 and implicitly state that there s been no generational improvement between 80-class cards for 2 years while increasing the price by 200, or two, they could call it a 4070 Ti and tell customers that the 70-class silicon is now 60% more expensive than 2 years ago. Neither option is good, and it was too late to fully cancel the product by the time they realized their mistakes.

Giving money to corrupt corporations is like paying a rapist to rape you. Choices have consequences, so choose wisely!
Jensen Huang is a man so incredibly dishonest and corrupt that he could make a politician blush.
I sat out on the 30 series. I will set out again on the 40 series, and may, out of spite, sit out on the 50 series as well.
I was wise to keep my 1080p 144Hz monitor knowing it would be easier to drive if prices rose dramatically. I chose well. My 2060 Super continues to serve me well enough for now. I may pick up a used GPU on the secondary market IF I find a compelling enough bargain. In a couple of years, I will buy a 4090 on the secondary market and use all the money I saved to build what would essentially be a Free computer with a 1440p ultrawide monitor.
Remember, it is THEM WHO NEED US, not we who need them!
Thank you to Steve and everyone at GN! Please keep up the great work!!

I get it...Nvidia is greedy but aren't they pricing their products directly in competition with AMD 7900XTX and 7900XT? With a 4080, you are getting 7900XTX performance with more features, increased RT performance, and much less power draw (remember that was a big deal last generation). The 4070ti is priced to compete with the 7900xt, which it matches or beats with slightly better RT performance, more features, and less power draw. AMD ruined this generation. Nvidia is just greedily capitalizing on AMDs inability to compete. I'm more pissed at AMD for their ineptitude to release competitive products. Nvidia would NEVER get away with launching these cards at these prices if consumers had a comparable alternative.

My best guess on how they managed to massage the numbers to claim that the 4070 Ti is 3x faster than a 3090?
3090 rendering at native with DLSS2 Quality or maybe even fully disabled, vs the 4070 Ti rendering with DLSS3 w/ Frame Generation. Since DLSS3 is locked to 40 series cards they have built themselves the very thinnest margin of plausibility; with the very real possibility that it is an arbitrary software lockout notwithstanding.
No reasonable person who knows anything at all about these products will look at that plot and believe that it was made in good faith. It is shocking even in the context of the history of ridiculous first party launch keynote performance claims.

Was really excited to get a new card this gen. I had finally gotten a good paying job and was looking to spend some money on a top tier card. I decided not to. Nvidia and amd both are clearly attempting to milk the entire pc gaming market with overpriced cards. A 4090 would have been tempting if i didnt also need to buy a new case and I like the case I have. My 580 has been serving me just fine for the last few years and it will continue for the time being. Screw both of them, they are not getting my money.

I don't know if I should take this review seriously or not? I mean other than this guy nobody cares about that point on that slide showing 3x performance increase in one game yet GN talks about this for half of the video claiming that because of that slide this card is garbage. 99.9% of people will never see that slide in their life. This guy lost touch with reality.
This card will sell like hotcakes: 3090 performance + low power consumption + DLSS3 for cheap . And that's enough for the average gamer.

Wait...so if the 4090 is 1.8x a 3090 and 1.65x a 3090 Ti, and a 4070 Ti is 3x 3090 Ti, where the 3090 Ti is about 1.15x the 3090, that makes the 4070 Ti (3 x 3090 Ti) = 1.5x 4090 !!!!
Bro that's way better bro !! Trust me bro !! And for a lot cheaper too bro !!! You could like ....buy 2 4070 Ti bro for the cost of one 4090 and have the performance of 3x 4090 bro !!! Brooooooo!!!!!

It's a damned shame this whole generation is turning out to be an excellent hardware improvement lost behind horrible marketing and pricing. All the hard work of the engineers to make damned fine products smothered by corporate greed. AMD or Nvidia, they've made impressive improvements over the last generation but the people behind the pricing are high on their own farts to think this is progress.

At this point, I couldn't wait anymore. And since the MSRP edition of the 7900xt is both equally unavailable and uncoolable (at least until gpu blocks are readily available), I finally just picked up an rx 6800 for 540 after tax and shipping.
I'm so frustrated with the market right now, but I'm stuck on a 4K monitor. So I had to do _something_ to alleviate the situation.

Please please please do a Gamers Nexus award crystal for the RTX 4000 series and send it to Jensen. If you also made them available on the store I'm sure they'd sell, but only if you actually send it to Jensen. Perhaps you could address it to him at his new yacht? This could be a thing for each new launch season, good or bad.

Imo the un launched 4080/12 GB = 4070. NOT TI version. Consider its has cut down cuda and cut down memory bandwidth at 192 bit. = xx60 or maybe xx70. Not TI version at 850 lol.
More proof Nvidia continued to give gamers the big middle finger while jacking price up at cut down GPUs. = DOA.
Good video. Steve is right again.

this really has me concerned for the mid and low end. if a 4050 laptop starts at 999 (3060 prices, 3070 laptop sales even go this low lately) and has nearly the same cuda core countd as the 3050, you're paying double just for dlss3. dlss is a feature add and shouldn't be the base for price to performance ratios.

Actually, having just gotten through the raytracing section, the 4070 Ti doesn't seem to (significantly) outperform the 7900 XT _even in most raytracing scenarios._ That's kind of wild given the minuscule price differential. This thing really is doing its damnedest to make the 7900 XT look good.

I'm fed up with this Nvidia pricing, I would consider myself well off and would historically a 70 series card as what I consider best price to performance ratio, now I see just greed in their pricing, I don't know how people with less money can enter PC gaming with these kinds of prices.

Both companies have lost me with their shit-stainery.
Used to be that I'd buy the xx80/xx80Ti every generation but what even the hell are they now.
My 3080 plays Rainbow Six Siege just fine at 720p, so I'll stick with it until this pair of knucklehead companies gets their act together

It's a 4700 not a IT and more than 300 euro over priced.......
If this continues I will buy a PlayStation again.... And continue on a very cheap laptop for work ,tablet or Chrome book.....
Keep up the good work Nvidia AMD and Intal and you will lose customers some will never return.
