I remember when AMD rolled out with a usable Vega64 that was over hyped and already obsolete. I guess Nvidia wants to do trendy bool5h!t, too. Well then, I guess it's time to modify my lawn mower. Get rid of the Briggs and Stratton engine and fit a Kohler on it. Tell Craig, my neighbor, my mower has higher torque and can stay running longer at higher rpm. I love showing off shiny modified stuff to him. He has no mechanical ability other than changing oil and spark plugs. So what will he do? He'll spend 50,000 on a new car and say I should buy a new car. Heh, heh. I love to make him buy new stuff that he can't fix himself. He hates my throaty '66 GTO I take to classic car rallys. I also have an Arab and Japanese neighbor, too. They think their Hitachi and Dyson vacuum cleaners are superior to my Shark. Phifft! Trends. Bool5h!t spelled a different way. Lol! I love smooth amber ale. New Castle is good. The gal down the block drinks Coors and bitter IPAs. That I don't want to understand. But she'll say, That's why there's so many different choices of beer. Get lost, dude. Go buy what you want. Whatever. So back to Nvidia or AMD. Whatever I think will best suit me, that I'll buy. This I will say for you Steve, you got the best tech videos. I refer you to all my gamer friends.

Having been trying videogame streaming services for some time now. Started with Gaikai, which as long as my memory serves me right, was actually very competent especially for its time, but still the latency just meant that any serious gaming was quite miserable. Same with Xbox streaming, quality is good, but latency is horrible, you can't really play anything that requires any kind of precision (shooters, racing games even action rpgs) so you are in the end limited again to slow pace adventures and turn based RPGs, which isn't everyones cup of tea.
In the end, the best streaming service I've ever used was having steam link opened on my old gaming laptop which was closed in a drawer and streaming WOW classic and euro truck simulator over the 4g to my phone. Probably because of the server being only couple of miles away from me, the latency was actually bearable for serious play.
In the end, even streaming games over the internet in 4k/240Hz will be much worse than playing at 1080p30 on Series S locally. And Series S can be found used for 150 .

You really should stop the whole cost Vs performance nonsense; it is completely inappropriate in the context of gaming. You cannot claim that it is not worth paying 3 times more in order to play games in 200 fps in 4k than someone who plays in 1080 in 120 fps. these are not comparable qualities. It is like claiming that owing a private jet is not worth it because you can take economy class tickets instead. No; it IS worth it if you can afford it and no marketing propaganda will ever convince rich people that they would be better off not having their private planes.
There is no valid claim here at all; a Ferrari and a Hyundai will both drive the same routes, but is not cost effective to have a Ferrari? Sure dude, whatever.

NVidia lying about performance metrics, being vague about things so people assume something completely unrealistic, and using confusingly similar names? Tel me it ain't so. They would never do such a thing. Calling what should have been a 4060 a 4080 12GB ? Nah, we'll benevolently unlaunch it instead of simply retracting the announcement. GeForce Partner Program? Nah, we only ever wanted to make sure people get legitimate NVidia cards. NVidia Greenlight? We added restrictions on overclocking cards not because we wanted to screw everyone, but out of LOVE for our AiB partners and wouldn't want them to have to work so hard on coming up with quality cooling solutions.

Super Resolution Video is cool and I'm really glad that it looks like it works seamlessly in the browser, hopefully it doesn't need support from the streaming service. Last I checked Amazon Prime still won't stream HDR or 4K to Windows. Hopefully they can do the same with DLSS 3 (I know not everyone likes the way it looks).
Considering I spend more time watching videos on YT and other streaming services than I do playing games anymore, that's pretty much the only feature that they could offer that would entice me into their laughable pricing scheme.

As someone who buys laptops, they finally gave the 60 class cards 8GB vram from 6GB. The price? They basically nerfed all the vram bus' and vram in total on the higher cards just to fit the new 4090. Which I have no doubt will run absolute ass when 80 cards generally struggle to run in chassis nowadays with their heat and power. The whole thing stinks of trying to charge you more, if you was a 70 class buyer what you originally had was an 80 class card and so on. I'm done with Scamvidia, gimme a full AMD Lenovo Legion as my next machine please.

If you absolutely want to put the options on the far right, aka on maximum, without compromise, with RT on, get a 4090 with a good PSU brand 12hvpwr cable, and make sure you insert it correctly.
If you don't care about RT and are OK with a slightly inferior product that cost a lot less money, get a 7900XTX. That is, if you're sure you don't get a model that overheats.
For my part, I play MSFS extensively so the 4090 was a no brainer. DLSS3 is just way too good with that title.

I think you've missed the most important application of the new video upscaling, unless I've missed something myself. There are tons of videos that are limited to 1080p or less simply because it's the way they were created, and no amount of bandwidth you have can't fix that. If this new feature can be used for such videos, it basically means that we can watch classic movies remastered in real time to 4K by our GPUs! That's just insanely awesome.

Maybe the reason why Nvidia are feeling pressure from consoles is because they remain the only avenue open to the budget conscious gamer? It's great that Nvidia's high end cards can offer 3x or 5x or 6x the performance of an Xbox, but what if I have a budget to stick to and none of the cards on offer fits it? IMHO the threat from consoles won't go away until we start seeing some decent budget/mid-range cards in the 250- 400 bracket.

Im still sitting on a 1070. I wanted to get a GPU back then and jumped the 2000series because too expensive, I jumped the 3000 series because not available and therefor too expensive and now the 4000 series is out and too expensive. I just want a 070 for 500 bucks, but these times are over. Hoping for a 4070 in die 600dollar range or a 4060 ti in the near future. AMD sadly also doesnt offer midrange right now.

The lack of a DLSS 3 footnote stunned me a bit. I had to check and make sure that every single game on the chart supports DLSS Frame Generation (which it does, lol). It's hardly like it's free frames in the way that DLSS Super Resolution arguably is. (and lol at how confusing the marketing terminology has become here and especially how confused people are over what DLSS 3' even means. Gj nvidia)

As a user of GeForce Now I m happy with the change. Since I have access to glass fiber, it runs smoothly and all my games I play work. And with the prices for graphic cards, I can use the service for 4 years on its highest level, and still have spend less then a new 4080 would cost. And since steam workshop works, I see no reason to spend 1500+ for almost the same game experience

The 3x increase in performance is tied to the Cyberpunk 2077 Raytracing Overdrive performance. That's actually not unreasonable considering Raytracing is still in it's diapers on 4k and will only pump out around 48FPS on a 4090 in Cyberpunk aswell. Let alone on a 3090 Cyberpunk 2077 in 4k with Raytracing is probably a slideshow.

This is so sad. AMD cheated its customers, they even got a failed cooling on the XTX with insane pricing. NVidia thinks their customers are fools and scamming them.
I just don't know what to do, I need a graphics card for Deep learning work, but how this GPU market looks, this is definitely looks like a loose loose situation.
