Usually the cheaper one is the popular one.
However, judging each card based on its tier category and their previous card's MSRP, the RX 7800 XT could be just as good of a deal. It may be close to the RX 6800 XT performance (I expect the RX 7800 XT to be 5%-10% uplift over the RX 6800 XT), but it also may be more efficient (perhaps). It still has the 16GB VRAM, to which I consider to be the proper amount for the 2023 standard.
For USD 499 MSRP, I think it is a great MSRP from AMD. It massively undercuts the MSRP of the RX 6800 XT (USD 649) and it still undercuts the current asking price of the RX 6800 XT (which is around USD 500). It is also 100 dollars cheaper than its supposed competitor, the RTX 4070 (MSRP of USD 599).
Of course, this opinion may change depending on its performance. I look forward to the GN's comprehensive test on the RX 7800 XT. Worst case scenario; the RX 7800 XT is overall slower than the RX 6800 XT, and it consumes more power while doing so. Fingers crossed.

To be honest their 7900 launches have put them in an akward position with price points, to where they have to basically sacrafice one SKU for another to succeed, namin scheme does the same as well, with the 50 price gape leaving no room for a 7800 SKU. While performance isn't linear, the 7800XT is seeming to shape up as the better value. But, the benchmarks are going to determine that. The more interesting landscape to me is going to be the 300- 400 dollar space. With the 7600XT/XTX and the 7700 non XT, with as big of a gap in CUs between the 7600 and 7700XT, the 7700XT might just be the sacraficial card for AMD, where the 7700 might be too close for comfort in the performance range.

They are doing the opposite of nvidia. 4080 cost 500 bucks more than 3080. 7800XT costs 150 bucks less than 6800XT (launch prices). I don t get the naming of the card. At this price point the ey could have called it 7800 to make it look like a bigger increase compared to 6800. Now it will be compared to 6800XT and not look like much of an improvement. The 7700XT is too close in price. Not to mention that you can get 6700XT for much less. Should have been 399 but maybe they want to upsell and make people buy the 7800XT. On paper the 7800XT looks like the best AMD card this generation and possible best overall in terms of price to performance.

I would have preferred to see the 7700XT at 400 but I do commend AMD for lowering the MSRP from last generation's launch price. The 6700XT launched at 480 so this card launching at 450 is at least a good thing from generation to generation.
Unlike Nvidia doing the exact opposite.
Still would have been nice to see it lower priced to compete with last gen current pricing but it's still nice to see.
If these cards perform well, they will definitely be good options to move away from Nvidia's insane pricing.

Sounds like AMD still thinks they are an equal company to NVidia and don't need to compete on price in a meaningful manner. Why would someone buy from the also ran company and not the leading company, even when their prices are also out of any sensible choice.
AMD passes on another chance to take a meaningful level of market share by coming in at a good price. Neither of these cards does so, and the 12gb on the 7700XT makes it a poor choice for anyone wanting any level of longevity on their purchase.

Am I the only one who is still not caught up with the FSR? I know FSR 1.0 is basically like DLSS 1.0 which is upscaling. What differentiates the FSR 2.0 from FSR 1.0 though? And how does FSR 3.0 differentiate itself from the previous two?
Just as a note, I am currently using RX 5700 XT and I never play games that have any of these upscaling features; be it DLSS, FSR, or XeSS. The closest I have come to upscaling is the RSR (Radeon Super Resolution) because it is baked into the graphics driver.

Reading all the comments, I find it absolutely wild that people think the 7800XT is ok value. It's very obviously a 7700XT. It has 12 less CUs than the 6800XT, way fewer stream processors. Oh, it has the same Vram, even though it's a newer card but hey, I can get a weaker product for the same money as old tech... take my money! ... Seriously? I'd say this is DOA but I think there are idiots out there who might buy this.
It should be 400 absolute max. It's a 7700XT, not a 7800XT FFS.

AMD has such a history of really bad support for the hobbyist machine learning crowd, this sudden focus on AI seems a little disingenuous. Like they see the boatloads of money nvidia is making now, and now all of a sudden they're taking ROCm seriously. But a software ecosystem takes years to build, took Nvidia well over a decade actually, so unless AMD carries this forward competently for another 5 years or so, I'll have a hard time investing in their ecosystem.

From the POV of someone who recently started learning about the GPU and PC market, i think the 7800xt seems like good competition for the 4070. That extra 4gb of vram really does make it more appealing. Especially with that price tag and good power consumption. This is coming from someone who is about to have the 4070 as well. I may have to reconsider is the reviews and tests are great. Especially if AMD improves their RT and FSR3.

So you need 4 cards but then they put Ti or XT. That would have sense if you release after 6 month maybe (so you boost a bit performance) but not at the same time. For cover a wider range of price? I mean if you buy a 8k res gpu you have money for buy also a big good 8k monitor. I know it's not so simple as i think. But could be simple.

Assuming that AMD's numbers are slightly exaggerated, that means that you could pick up last gen rx 6800 non xt for 430-460 NEW and get equivalent performance to the 7700xt. combine that with an overclock and undervolt, and you have an more power efficient card with a full 16 gb 256bit bus.
If you need 2k gaming the choices are rx 6700xt/6800 for non raytracing or 3080/4070 for raytracing.

They're comparing the 7800 XT agains the 4070, which delivers 3080-like performance, so basically 6800 XT... Nothing mind-blowing, but not too bad either, price considered. I'm actually curious to check the reviews.

FSR 1.0 looks terrible, but it let's my wife play Baldur's Gate 3 with me on her very low spec machine, so I'll take it.
Can't wait to see how 3 looks in comparison (and hope BG3 implements it. allegedly 2.0 is in the works but since it's an Nvidia sponsored title I'm not holding my breath. Can we also have game studios stop with GPU manufacturer sponsorships. I hate that)

Why did you not mention what FSR cards will support? Because i had to go find another video after this one to find out that yes, FSR 3 will work on RX 6000 series cards, and even 5000 series cards (though they do mention its not reccomended, just that it should work)
You also had no mention of Fluid motion frames, which apparently is very similar to DLSS 3 Frame generation tech.

The difference between watermark and non-watermark is probably in case of a leak. Imagine Gamer's Nexus is the only publication that gets a watermarked chart with Hitman on it. And a couple days before the official announcement, somebody leaks a chart (reconstructed without watermark) with Hitman on it. Then AMD knows who leaked the chart.

I bet the removal of Hitman 3 from the slide was a formatting decision. The chart fits within the border better with 19 games than 20.
Because Hitman 3 and Spider-Man were the only disadvantaged games to have identical disadvantages (-12%), Hitman does seem like the least offensive game to knock off the chart for formatting.

I wonder what FSR 3 can do on older Hardware (RX Vega on Cyberpunk could be a interesting test, as far as I recall they didn't like each other). It would also be interesting to hear from a Game Developer on how hard it is to properly implement FSR, because at least some of the Titles AMD lists are from rather small studios.
