AMD Ryzen 4000G APU Specs, Release Date, & Athlon 3150G CPUs: 4700G, 4600G, 4300G

AMD has rolled-out its APU launches prior to major CPU launches over the last few years, and that's continuing with the Ryzen 4000 launch. The company will eventually work its way into a Zen 3 and Ryzen 4000 desktop release date, but for now, the APUs (Zen 2 7nm) and some new Zen+ low-end CPUs (also with Vega IGPs) will launch first. AMD noted that this initial launch is OEM only, but heavily emphasized that it intends to launch a DIY PC part for use in 500- and 400-series motherboards. There isn't a price listed for the 4000G APUs or new 3000G APUs yet (not to be confused with the existing 3000G APU), and that'll likely stay that way since they're OEM-first. Release date is August, 2020 for the 4700G, 4600G, and 4300G APU systems.

This announcement could be called how to slap customers in the face (and leave a full market segment open to Intel)
Currently, I have a build that I've owned for more than 10 years. (yes, you're reading well) It was a monster by the time, and I've given it some nice upgrades.
It's been an amazing build, used for both personal and labs purposes, but now's about time for a well deserved retirement.
Here's the situation : both Intel and AMD are going to get new gen (Rocket Lake and Zen 3 to name them) by the end of the year. On AMD's side, Zen 2 architecture is still top value, so I wouldn't mind going for a Ryzen 4x00 (or 4x50) APU right now. I mean, for my needs, no big difference, Zen 2 or Zen 3. But we also have Zen 4 and Intel whatever it is called (read, for both companies : probably PCIE 5, DDR5 and new sockets in less than 2 years) so the build I'm planning to get won't probably last 10 years this time. What I expect is to convert the soon-to-be build as a pure lab computer in a SFF when PCIE 5 / DDR5 are released.
In that scenario APUs make perfect sense : no need for GPU, leaves the PCIE slot open for whatever extension card I may need on the lab, on the cheapest itx board I can get by that time.
Intel currently offers this possibility. AMD... Not. I know that AMD is saying OEM only for now but as with the Threadripper Pro, this whole OEM only looks a bit too much like kind of a (bad) recurring pattern right now.

Meanwhile, I'm still using the 2C/2T AMD Turion II 'Neo', which is a laptop processor from 2009 (I think) forced into a desktop socket (although it may be BGA) as a basis for my HTPC with a Radeon 5400 (it still has an ATI sticker on it and I had to explain to someone that it's not an RX 5400, but an HD 5400 with 2GB of memory, passive cooling, and PCIe-powered). I watch TV in 1080p since I sit about 2.5m from my TV and there is no visual difference. I sit 30cm from my work monitor which is why it's 4K 32 . There's been no need to upgrade yet. Windows 10 runs on it, but can't identify the RAM in there (it's bright yellow Mushkin RAM - PCB and heatspreader).

What I wonder is how the gaming performance is affected by losing some considerable amount of CPU cache and gaining IF clock by going for a monolithic DIE arrangement. I'm currently on an MSI B350 Gaming Plus with 1500X and want to upgrade to a 3700X/3800X/3800XT which will be used purely with stock clocks and a Corsair H100x cooler. If the FPS gains with improved IF clocks etc are higher, I'd like to go for a 4700G if I'm honest. Can't wait for your review, Steve!

i am so bored and my tv-pcs really need a rebuild after some years, i might go for one of those igpu amds now. - for no reason (performance) of course.
.. goo ole' times with the nvidia ion chipset... nope. not good really, even back when it was new...
But i really dont want to suffer from bios bugs as some people around me building with AMD lately.

some of those 4000 series apu sounds suspiciously close the what ps5 and xbox series x are using. apu 8 cores 3.5 ghtz and graphics clock of 2300 mhrtz..... I mean the consoles will have a speed advantage in that it has 16g of gddr6 ram for both cpu and gpu. alls I am saying is the 2 things sound pretty comparative...

I stopped watching your videos around February because I was feeling down, but I picked up your content again last month. I've finally caught up with your videos and all 5 months' worth of content. air quotations, tone shifts, eye twitches, smirks, dismissve laughs, it takes away all the seriousness of your actually quality number crunches, it's like watching adored talk about intel

For whatever reason, AMD Korea seems to have decided to treat local computer store as some kind of small SI, and will be supplying renior pro to them. 'retail' price seems to be KRW 20300 (4350G), 29500(4650G), 43600(4750G), price from Daewon CTS's official shop, who is official importer of AMD CPUs

Am I the Only one that Wonders why CPU coolers are not a small fridge as in a Freezer block as standard...by this I mean we have campervan fridges at 12v that work amazingly so etc?.. Obviously a smaller unit and only part needed by from fridge is the Freezer?..am I missing the obvious X

Pretty good stuff I'd say, I'd like to use one of the 6 or 8 core parts in a secondary mini build if the graphics are viable.
Also, love the Arctic sponsorship, good products deserving positive reviews lead to good relationships between media and manufacturers, it seems :D
