Sponsor: Thermaltake TR100 mini-ITX Travel Case on Amazon https://geni.us/Yn9DXb ID Cooling is the next company to go after Thermalright, adding the A720 AD and A720 TD reworks of its air coolers to try and fix acoustic problems while competing on price. We'll be testing these as soon as we get them in. ID Cooling also has a range of liquid coolers from low-end to high-end, with its CLC / AIO options starting around $80 to $100 for 360mm coolers. Their SL360 V2 Plus interestingly uses a larger radiator than it does fans, making space for LEDs on the side but attempting to compensate for cooling loss by adding water channels and liquid capacity.

Honestly, the ID Cooling gear is terrible, I've used quite a bit of it here in AU, and its as cheap as it gets, only useful for a machine your going to sell off cheap, the only thing the fans push is noise, the coolers under perform, I really recommend spending a little more and buy something from Artic instead, the cold plates look bad on the air coolers, the pump in the radiator unit is extremely cheap on quality, the pump/block setups are usable, but they don't last and the mounting arrangements are weak, they're only good for the lower to mid range CPU's anything more than 60w look elsewhere.

About the iD cooling air cooler designs. I hope the cable less fan can be detached from the display. Why Otherwise, if the fan dies, I'll have to get a new screen alongside it, or, give up on it if I get a regular 3rd party fan with compatible dimensions. On the other way around, if the screen dies, or get some dead pixels or whatever, I'll have to throw away a working fan to replace the screen.
I really hope they improve it before it hits the shelves, or l, at least, that I lost some information there and it is not as bad as I'm saying.

the problem with that cableless fan is you cannot replace it with off brand one. so if it breaks you need whole new cooler ($$$), branded component ($) or refit off brand fan manually ($ in form of your work/time). they could have used standard fan with cable plugged into and hidden in top cooler shroud. while retaining the same connector on the shroud to make it look neat. oh well.
btw saying how much liquid they added to system by mass is not as useful as by volume without mentioning what is the mix. densities will differ between mixes.

Scented thermal paste I got it done back when we only used zinc oxide for it, which I substituted with Desitin (baby rash cream) because I couldn't get a higher concentration zinc oxide compound in time for a holiday's gift. (Evidence: I reported it to hackaday back in 2006. Look up: hackaday squidjam).
Serious side note: DO NOT attempt this. This is NOT a recommendation. I know nothing about nothing. The product reported here is most likely a totally different thing.

In the year 2099 they're still going to be working on obsolete fan they'll probably have displays more lights or claim better advanced magnetic rotation fans don't make a difference not from 20 years ago to now they do the same thing they spin they move air and it's getting quite old they are obsolete that's when everyone needs to start complaining about make innovations and cooling outside of the obsolete fan

I have the old A720 and I'm quite happy with it I must say, although the fans that comes with it doesn't look all that good in my honest opinion. 2 of those new square front fans instead with the old design would have looked much nicer. I don't really care much for the display panel or the propriety of that middle fan on the new design. I must say I was very impressed with their packaging and accessories included.

I'll stick with Noctua. After I trust Noctua to have the absolute easiest-to-ignore acoustics and rock-solid build quality, the number-one thing I look for is standard components, and a fan I can't yoink for another role in a pinch is a deal-breaker while a vendor who still ships out mounting hardware downgrade kits for new coolers to use with my older machines is speaking my language.

I don't know what I expected or hoped for, but the show seems to be all about cases, coolers, and monitors. They're vaguely interesting and all (how many times do I need to buy any of those things though), but I was hoping for more interesting stuff: in computer cup holders, pop tart warmers, maybe even a new type of death ray controller. They haven't changed in 70 years.

Scented paste is actually an interesting solution for passively cooled builds. Due to the lack of fans, the smell of chemicals in the hardware that evaporate when they’re heated can be quite pungent. Scented paste could mask this. I would be very interested in a full review, ideally (also) with a passively cooled system.

scented paste makes no sense. Your not going to put enough for it to be noticable, and any additives added to thermal interference mediums decreases efficiency, hence your going to lose performance. This isn't like RGB which makes your PC prettier, as you most likely wont be able to smell it due to the lack of amount used.

Steve i appreciate your work. But i wanna ask a question why suddenly all cooler brands pumping out huge pieces huge and heavy coolers Same thing happening with GPU coolers... In nova days everything wattage, temps, coolers etc just going up! In old days if i am not mistaken companies try to shrink them down.

You didn't smell the scented paste At least TechPowerUp gave us the names for the five different variations of paste (Luna, Viola, Bella, Poma, and Core) but didn't tell us if any of them smelled like the ocean to match the Yeston Sakura Atlantis GPU which you did an entire video on the scent module.

I winged my newest build and never heard of thermalright but winged it with one of their AIO's, zero complaints. Scented paste is lost on me, when a PSU has had it I need to be able to smell it before the death throes of the sickening whine. Off topic, any awkward sightings of a certain Canadian

Just like fart spray, manufacturers need to come up with a joke line of awful smelling paste.
You have a customer that's been an absolute a$$, and you need to get back at him without being overt.
Poop-scented thermal paste. It will take him a month to figure it out.

I'm starting to wait for third party companies to start putting out pogo pins cables to sell separately once things will go cable free to the point you need the extension to use the product with anything else but that product specific ecosystem XD

....oh boy. Another Steve video mocking everything he is not used to. I miss when GN was dedicated to covering interesting and unique things rather than rather than being the old man shouting at these animated characters to get off his lawn.

Thermal compound is supposed to conduct heat while remaining as chemically and mechanically stable as possible over time. Any additives that do not perform this function, such as pigments, are a bad idea, let alone volatile scent compounds.

I have good experiences with ID-Cooling customer service. Their customer service representative sent me new fans after I complained about a whiny fan in my new A620. They did not have to do that, so they deserve some praise for extra effort.
reply

Not doing downdraft coolers - Yeah no one does those or top-flow coolers either that's why I got a Noctua NH-C14S Heatsink with 140mm fan because there's very little competition and even less un-biased reviews and comparisions.
