So, I've recently been car shopping, keep in mind, I used a vpn to insulate all pc traffic. I had been thinking about it for a long while now. However, I noticed after I used google to search up some good SUVs I started getting a LITERAL crapton of ads from not only youtube (I can understand, its connected to google) but also on facebook and hulu? I rarely use facebook and only post the odd meme so it caught me a little off guide that I got ads for not only SUVs but an SUV that we only TALKED about after seeing it at a dealership and never looked up. The Hyundai Tucson.
I always thought stuff like this was a little far-fetched but every time I see an ad for something like that, to the exclusion of all the ads I usually see and actually enjoy watching, (dr squatch and william painter glasses). As a software developer with a background in securing applications, this immediate and stark change across not just google, which I was kind of expecting, but across multiple platforms that shouldn't have any way to access that information caught my attention and makes me feel a bit uneasy. Glad to see I'm not the only one.

One big step in de-Googling is finding a good alternative that is totally free speech. I use Presearch as my search engine. Presearch is decentralized search engine that is privacy searches and shares revenue with users. Soon enough the search engine will be powered by user nodes, who will also get revenue share. The next phase for Presearch is becoming as decentralized as possible meaning the community makes decisions for the company and not a board of directors.
I know lots of people use DuckDuckGo but they have donated to liberal organizations. Many liberal organizations are in favor of censorship. Also DuckDuckGo is venture capitalist backed.
Why not use a search engine that is privacy, revenue share to users and decentralized.

So if I'm on Verizon what are my options? I'm using a galaxy note 9 and it is completely locked. Would i lave to buy a phone not from a Verizon store? If anybody has a link on this info I'd really appreciate it. The data collection is getting out of hand. -F- books new terms of service is scary ass hell as they have access to your entire home network if you have them or -Instagrim- on any device. Crazy times

Degooled fones and new fones that does not use android system seem like lolly pops.until and unless all countries do not start making their own fones and mobile apps.
Internet is an ocean and most nations do not understand it's protocols much.although degoogling will reduce spying on users world wide, but it's not the ultimate solution.

do you think that ios is just as bad as android for spying? Wasn't there a couple studies done by FOSS advocates that showed (much to their dismay) that iOS spied FARRR less? (I know it is the coolest thing in the world to hate relentlessly on apple products but I thought there was a substantial difference in this regard).

Hey Chris, love your videos! You've definitely helped me get more comfortable with linux and opened my eyes to all sorts of computing alternatives. Would you ever do a review of /e/OS for android? I have heard a lot of good things from it and I'd love to hear your opinion of the project.

Can i degoogle a phone without installing a custom os. I know android itself is open source so couldn't i just remove all the proprietary trash i know it would take way more effort but still.

Banks work on Custom ROMs only if the phone is NOT rooted. if it's rooted, most banking apps complain until you enable Magisk Hide feattures, sometimes...so i've heard...
