Linux Mint 20 - Installation and New Features - Chris Titus Tech
video description
first: i only wanted to update my installed programs and had suddenly mint 20 installed.
second: this has killed the hotkeys of the vlc player, and even after completely removing and reinstalling they didn't come back. so fundamental system files got damaged.
third: i couldn't create files and folders on the desktop anymore.
fourth and worst: they have killed the repository for chromium. so in fact sponsoring the firefox monopoly.
if the developers are concerned about tracking they should at least give the instructions how to -ungoogle- chromium but not restrict the access to that.
this censoring are microsoft methods!
by the way: the hotkeys didn't come back even after i got rid of mint 20 with timeshift

I quite like the idea of having Mint, as it is more elegant and ubuntu looks a bit childish, but I like the look of most of the creative software available on Ubuntu. Probably will have them both on separate SSDs along with windows 7 that I have in one pc. I upgraded to windows 10 on my main PC, but some bastard has tampered with it and put a password on the BIOS so I can't access it to install Linux, I even tried a virtual machine, but I need to change a setting in the BIOS for a 64 bit version to work. I don't really want to share the RAM anyway if I'm video editing, but these technicalities are frustrating. You're nearly there, and then it won't let you. I just got a pen drive, so I may as well just use the other PC and make sure I set a BIOS password on it.
Cunts.

I never used Linux, I'm a window person why cos it's good easy and no you don't have to reboot every sec.
Two days ago I created a Linux virtual machines in windows try zorin pop7 Ubuntu MX well pretty much the top 6 one...
Take me a bit of time to get used to and I don't really understand why someone who run windows would consider Linux I actually felt like Linux was slow and needed to reboot more than I ever reboot my W10... I did enjoy two of them though Mint and Zorin are definitely something!
One thing I really enjoy with Linux is definitely the command and snap are so easy to install...
I may jump for a year into mint!

Do you have any videos on how the Mint community functions? I'm wondering about how it relates to Ubuntu and how much double up there is working on both Ubuntu and Debian directly - and if they're working on Debian directly - why not just skip the Ubuntu version and go straight to that? What corporations are involved in producing what stuff - and how do they relate to each other? What resources and functions would be moved to where if the entire Mint flagship transitioned to LMDE4?

I am a long time Windows user. I installed Linux Mint 20 on a USB. I can open files, create new files (word, excel). Most windows users would want to run softwares. If I can find a software that runs on Linux (say Keepass), then how can I run it ? How can I run simple windows software thru Wine ? How can we find and install wine ? ... These are elementary questions to you, but to Windows users like me, it is a big matter ...

Love Linux Mint. In all the 20 years of toying with linux I can finally say it can be my daily driver. It was the first distro that allowed me to install set up my system, including those pesky Nvidia drivers, all with just a few clicks. No more terminal. Although it did take them a few versions to get that right, at least for my PC.
