How to add branded templates to Word, Excel & PowerPoint start pages - Kevin Stratvert learn how to add branded organization templates to the Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint start pages across Windows, Mac, and Web using SharePoint. With organization templates, you can make it easier for members of your organization to access and use your official templates. I walk through how to create a template file, how to upload the template to a document repository in SharePoint, how to convert the document repository into a template repository, and finally, I show you how the templates appear on the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint start pages. To follow this video, there are two requirements: - You need to be a global admin or SharePoint admin to convert the document repository into a template repository. If you're neither of those, your life is even easier. Simply ask your admin to enable this on your behalf by sharing this video. Once a document library is a template repository, anyone with access to the template repository can upload templates. Those templates will then appear on the start pages. - Organization templates are only available to users on E3 or E5 licenses. With an E1 license, you won't be able to start from a template from the Word, Excel, or PowerPoint start pages; however, you can still access the templates directly from SharePoint. 0 02:38 How to save a template in Word, Excel or PowerPoint 04:30 Log into Office.com to get to SharePoint 05:17 Create a document repository in SharePoint 06:20 Upload template to document repository 07:05 Download and sign in to SharePoint Online Management Shell 08:50 Convert document repository to template repository 11:23 See branded templates on start pages 12:37 Wrap up How to download and get started with SharePoint Online Management Shell: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/sharepoint/sharepoint-online/connect-sharepoint-online Detailed article on how to enable a template repository: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/organization-assets-library Command I ran to turn my document repository into a template repository: Add-SPOOrgAssetsLibrary -LibraryURL https://kevstrat.sharepoint.com/sites/wlive/Templates -OrgAssetType OfficeTemplateLibrary

Hi Kevin, Thank you for the videos, they are very helpful. I have a question - I have created a Template document with Quick parts, headers and footers, and want to set it to the default for the company. How do I achieve this? at the moment, it is published to the Organizational Asset Library, so staff can access it from the selection under our company tab, but when they click on Blank, it gives them the default Word document - This is where I want to add mine? How do I get the Global template pushed out to all ?

Wonderful tutorial! This is going to be very useful for me. I work at university that has many faculties and departments. Do you know if there-s an option to push these templates to only certain people / different templates for different departments? (yes, we have SharePoint sites for every department and permissions set to certain people using distribution lists. Or it just works for the whole organization?
Thanks in advance!

Kevin I have really enjoyed all your videos and hope your new endeavor is going well. This last one is exactly what we need after our new branding went live, so I'm looking forward to implementing it. I would love to see more videos regarding the SharePoint modern experience. For instance, how would I add access to these templates to the -New- drop-down when creating a new doc/workbook/presentation in a SP document library?

Great Video. I am going to try this tonight. You asked for some ideas on other videos to make. One thing I would like to be able to do is add a folder of URL's of key websites to Microsoft Edge for all of our employees. This is similar to having templates in Word, PPPT and Excel that are available to all employees except that it would be a folder of URL's for key websites for our employees.

We did this and it's populated to the desktop Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Does it work with the on the web apps other than Powerpoint? Powerpoint on the web is the only one showing the templates after 1.5 weeks of creating the Office Templates. Discussion threads mention this same thing about only seeing it on Powerpoint on the web and not Word or Excel on the web.

I normally watch your Teams videos ... but I LOVED this and want to add this functionally for my school!! Video suggestion: I often see -run a share point script- with an idea.... but I-ve never used it and don-t know how! You touched on it in this video, but maybe a video on installing, logging in and applying scripts to powershell would be a super useful video!

Great video and interesting topic. Good luck to you on your new endeavor.
In excel if a program adds products to waste every month, and you have an excel spreadsheet of this from Jan thru May and one from Jan thru July how do you subtract the one spreadsheet from the other to figure out what was wasted in June and July? Any help would be appreciated.

Not to be negative but I shouldn't have to find a video about how to do this. We have A5 and A3 licenses. We also have Google Workspace. To add a template in that environment, I navigate to the template gallery and click the 'Submit a template' button. MS really has to make things simpler.
