i am trying to use netgear as primary which has a feature called wireless repeater, planning to use wifi extender using a tp-link router which has WDS bridging option.
The netgear is by default 192.168.1.1 and tplink 192.168.0.1
I have enabled WDS Bridging on the tplink.
I have changed the ip of the tplink to 192.168.0.2a
i have disabled dhcp on the tplink
I am able to connect to the wifi of tplink but internet does not work
what could i be possibly doing wrong.

My Extended router dlink DIR-825 does not have WDS, but my root router does. Since you said only one of the routers need to have WDS enabled, can I still use my dlink extended router in this setup?
reply

wait .. if you disconnect your ROOT router, and connect your EXTENDED router, WHY will it show ANY wifi ? extended router is not configured to detect any wifi yet ... nah .. something is wrong here.
reply

Good explanation, I have a question, which setup is better, connecting
router to router to modem, or the two routers to the modem. what are the
differences and benefits?, thanks,

Thank you! This is very informative. Although, my extended router doesn't have the -Survey- option. It has the -WDS Key- option. Not sure how to configure that. Can you please help?
