In this special edition episode Gordon sits down with Jim Anderson from AMD to go over all the 2nd Gen Threadripper details including pricing, clock speeds, and availability! Diddles: It's a great time to be alive in the tech industry! Especially now that GPU prices are normalizing. 2016 was a great year for the GPU space, 2017 was a great year for the CPU space, and now 2018 is delivering more good for CPUs, and is even getting good in the SSD space as well! Now we just need better RAM prices, and the orchestra will be complete.
Anyway, great video as always guys! I must admit, I'm quite jealous of you guys for getting that massive TR replica. That's something to put on the trophy shelf for sure!
Also, +1 on the idea of shipping a special edition CPU in a Slot A package! I remember the Athlon being the first CPU my older brother bought when we were young.

Gordon dropping it from the source again! I think AMD is going to be overwhelmed again (in a good way. They may think its an enthusiasts CPU, but cores are the only logical/physical future at this point. Game Developers (and others) WILL catch up. AMD is poised to do some serious damage from here on out: ) -The times, they are a changin-.

11: 36 but Gaem developers NEVER optimize thier games for high end hardware. It will be a good 10 years (if ever) when I'll see a game that lists -Threadripper 2- as a minimum spec. Sure I can see game developers use this when developing the game, but the game won't require a threadripper.

8 core 2900x for $349 i have no use for 12+ cores and im not staying on 8 core gen 1 threadripper, i want more IPC. im just a gamer/benchmarker but i need the 64 PCI-e lanes so ryzen 7 2000 series is a no go for me, i want extra gpus to more nvme ssds, so i need the pci e lanes.

I kind of want the upgraded 16 core. But the improvement is not enough to justify it. probably waiting for the 3950X, The cores are nice but single core performance still matters. Can't really use more than 16 cores, but I can often use 14ish.

Nobody buy this for game don't know why people think that people buy for what they stated. Tbh these are all great prices. Amd making progress with more cores and faster speeds. As well as getting better with their IPC.

18: 42 this story doesn't make much sense since it sounds like the Threadripper was created before Epyc. Do was Epyc an after thought to produce? Most people consider the Treadripper to be a cut down version of Eypc CPUs.

the birth of Core processors was due to knee jerk reaction back when athlon processors chocked Intel dusting P4 era when Ghz war was in peak
May be Intel needed another boost in Hare and tortoise race!

Keep up the good work I'll be building my first AMD system in Athlon 64. I don't need Threadripper but I still want it so a 12 core for me.
And you know they will come out with a 64 core eventually.

Jim has always reminded me of that cartoon character that's in black and white with a hat with the pointed face. He sounds sneaky. not saying he's creepy. But I bet he is sneaky.
