Like everybody there I'm doubtful Ryzen will add cores, I think they will keep that in their pocket until Intel really starts matching them, and taking away hyper threading just means AMD has more time for that. I mean we know with the infinity fabric and exactly how Threadripper was able to double core count in a year that more cores on Ryzen is certainly possible. Its just the chips that are binned good enough are going to thread ripper than Ryzen. I think they are focused on clock speeds and the Ryzen 2 7nm is hopefully where we will see that gap close. If they can get close to Intels clockspeed is when the tables will really turn fast. I love these CPU wars wayyyyy too much haha

Our hard drives are already hucked out the window. most of them anyway. We have a few left to hold backups but even those are getting hard to justify because restoring anything from them is dog-slow. Everything else uses pure SSDs. In a sense, having ever more-powerful systems is forcing the issue. The newer systems just bottleneck too much on HDD I/O and wind up twiddling their fingers when they could be doing useful work.
Next up is the network. Gigabit ethernet is feeling too slow, but mobo makers are very slow getting affordable 10Gbe out the door.

A question for Gordon Mah Ung. Can you please also use the best Noctua cooler for testing that 2990X? I want to know high the all core boost gets with that cooler.
With regard to those SSD-prices, investors already warned for these pricedrops at the end of 2017 (they expected a 25-40% price drop, these guys have some good technology guys helping them out. The investors also warned for the price increase of RAM, that taught me to listen to these guys. ;)

Time stamp: 43: 00 The I7 9000 Series 8 core with -No Threads- will Be closer to $500 I'm sure. And the I9 will Definitely Be above $500, More like $600 Just to get those Threads. First Off this is another Intel ScumBag Move, Taking Hyper Threading away from the I7 SMH. Now everyones I5 is basically a shitty little I3 now, Thanks to Intel and there Brite Idea's.

LOL LIKE I SAID WITH RYZEN 2700X It was Cheaper and I was Right again The Threadripper Plus 16 Core 32 Thread chip is cheaper than Last years chip. SO MarcasswellbMD was Freaking Right again. Play the Tapes Back and you will remember me Because it was live and I was flipping out in the chat about everything being cheaper along with better NOW!

IT WAS NOT 2cnd Gen Ryzen It was Ryzen Plus Second Gen Ryzen will be on 7NM. AND I can't Freaking wait till it comes out and takes the Gaming Belt From Intel. They all ready took the, VID Rendering, Multi Cor/Gaming While Streaming Belt. Next year It will be the single thread Belt which at this point should NOT EVEN Matter anymore.

OK, I'll say it again. That chart on price per thread is nuts. Some may be price per thread, but AMD are priced per CORE. 1900X at $50. 00 a thread would be $800. 00. $550. 00 all the way down to $300. 00 but not $800. 00. What are you guys smoking?

The wraithripper doesn't release until September and I haven't seen any dates on the Dark Rock pro TR4 or noctua's updated coolers. Not really any air cooling options for anyone getting the 2990wx at launch.

Great show guys, too bad I missed it live. You should bring Jon L. Jacobi to the show to explain how he tests the drives and talk about the best drives for different use cases. That would be interesting.

The Bucks per Thread chart is incorrect, sometime you show $/thread, but at least with the 1920X, you show $/core. So it looks like some are double as expensive as they really are.
