about the amd rumors. people that are saying its too good to be true just wait for the final chip and lets see. i think the leaks are pretty close but there is a problem. im very worried about latency. i mean if the 8 core parts are 2 4 core dies then latency will be awful between them. i dont remember how he said the 6 core dies will be setup (is it one die or 2) but if they are 2 then latency will also be awful. games need 6 core with smt, all with low latency to each other. that would mean you would have to buy a 12 core or higher chip to get good gaming performance. -
even if the 6 core parts are a single die the clocks are very low, i would suspect maybe even locked for all the 6 core chips. you dont want your lower end part out doing the higher end stuff and if there are 6 cores on one die that will clock high enough then they would game faster than the 8 core chips. i know the silicon is lower quality here so people think -well they wont clock as high- but silicon quality varies. some of them could be high enough to clock to the poitn of the higher end chips-
so you would have a situation where the 6, 12, and 16 core parts have enough cores on one die to make latency concerns not a factor. while the ryzen 5 lineup, the line that has always been the gaming go to chip will be awful. -
its almost like a payway for gaming performance. either you can buy a lootbox chip with the ryzen 3's and hope you get one that clocks high (if they are 2 dies with 3 cores each then even that hope is gone) or you buy a 12 core or 16 core chip so that you can only use half of it. -
for production these chips will be marvelous. but im not sure they are too good to be true just yet. there is a reason they are selling them this cheap. i think it could be the side effects of modular chip designs. latency

Brad. I would be disappointed if there wouldn't be more cores and roughly the same single core performance for Ryzen3. Ryzen3 is on the better node (new and rough around the edges but a lot smaller, I want Ryzen to perform better and I would like it if for once Intel can't one-up AMD on performance but for a much higher price. Let Intel compete on price for a change. I expect 12 cores for the 3700X (I did before those leaks, it just makes sense from a technical and economical perspective in my opinion against the background of AMD requireing a larger market share for better hardware-support from developers, the clock frequency and price might change a bit. With regard to DX12, I strongly prefer Vulkan because opposed to DX12 Vulkan uses open course (good for optimization) and is not tied to just one operating system which I rather don't use. Besides, Vulkan has already proven its worth with Doom and Wolfenstein2, even Pascal runs those games better than with OpenGL. What are the successes of DX12 so far? BF1 and Sniper Elite 4 if you have an AMD card? That is a bit thin, isn't it?

no see now the $1200 2080ti looks like a bargain next to the titan rtx, so people are angry at titan as they buy the 2080ti. As for dummy ram, it kinda makes sense. say you're on ryzen and need to only have 2 sticks to maintain low latencies or whatever. you might still wanna fill up those empty slots just because it looks better. Like im absolutely not going to be able to keep 3200mhz CL 14-14-14 across 4 sticks on an x370 board, I also don't have any use for 32GB RAM but i want all 4 slots filled so i only spend $40 for an aesthetic improvement with dummy ram instead of spending double on extra RAM i didn't need. I think as an option its existence is worthwhile.

the benchmarks were leaked on geekbench or sisoft sandra or one of them a couple months back. we werent sure about the clocks but if it was running at the clocks the data base said it was then there really are some ipc gains to be had. of course it might come to mobile first. could be another 14nm coffeelakd refresh for 2019. 2019 might belong to amd but ill wait and see. and even if it does intel will come back with something

I don't care for the core count increase to be true, what I'am really hoping for is the iGPU's because that alone will take BIG chunks to Intel's marketshare yahooooooo! AMD for the Win!
