Keith May from Wccftech predicts Ryzen 3 performance
video description
ALSO Ryzen 9 which is the 16 core chip will need x5 EPS connectors and a whole ecosystem of its own and they will NOT be compatible with current AM4 motherboards.
ALSO the cinebench run against Intel was done on a 8 core 65 Watt tdp low end RYZEN 5 3600 CPU which will be priced at 200 dollars, so it is not even the RyZen 7 variant capable of 5. 0 Mhz boosts with 12 cores. AMD showcased a chip that is designed run on a B motherboard.
AMD IS NOT sand bagging, they are shamelessly ridiculously highlighting and very proud of their low tier ES chips that run 20 to 30 % lower clocks with much higher idle power draw beating Intels precious piece of junk that some fashion victims still fall for.

TBH I'd expect AMD to release the 16 core chips for their 50th anniversary (May 1st this year, it would SERIOUSLY upstage Intel's anniversary chip the 8086.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see a monster Vega II GPU around then as well 72 or more CU's would throw mud in Nvidia's eyes. Regarding raytracing?
Personally I'm not that bothered by it largely because of the cost of the cards and the inerrant impact on performance, DLSS?
Ok it helps but until it's widely adopted and mature I won't be jumping on that bandwagon.
Either way AMD are shaking the tree of BOTH market leaders.
Thats gotta be good for gamers.
Intel AMD and Nvidia having to fight for our money instead of fleecing us of it.

MCE is overclocking. That's running the chip at an all-core overclock that matches the max boost of the chip. Any motherboard that enables it by default is incorrectly designed.
The 9900K in the test was operating at stock clocks, _without_ its TDP limit being imposed. So it was actually still overclocked, because it doesn't run that fast when forced to lived within it's 95W TDP. When doing the latter, it's slightly slower than a 2700X in Cinebench.
In this case, they showed a 9900K running at 4. 7GHz on all cores (making it a 125W TDP chip, versus a 65W TDP chip that was probably running at no more than 4. 6GHz on two of its cores, at best.

Gordon, you mentioned that you thought AMD was sandbagging with the 3rd gen ryzen and i agree. I also think they are doing the same with radeon VII. I think they are right now in the process of tweaking and getting that card tuned up perfect. Everyone was expecting navi so everyone was immediately disappointed by another radeon card. But this thing is 7nm and i think its going to overclock like a mofo. I think radeon VII is going to be alot better than people realize. I think the card is going to be a nice competitor for people who are sick and tired of Nvidias crap. I know i am.

The Ryzen 2 leaks do make a lot of sense since AMD's price structure is already roughly there. In Italy, which is not the cheapest country in terms of tech, we can buy a ryzen 5 1600 for roughly 150 euros, that's a six cores part, so they already sell six cores for just a little more than 100 euros, ryzen 7 1700 is 200 euros give or take. So they may very well release a 16 cores for 300/400 euros or dollars. Now, ryzen plus chips are more expensive than the original zen ones, but if yields are good they can afford to cut prices as they did with first gen ryzen

First Drop Ryzen+ price
Then, launch 8c for 399, which won, t hurt lower price ryzen+ line.
One month later, after thoroughly tested and more defected chip accumulated.
Launch 12core for 599
Launch 16core for 799
3 month later, drop the ryzen+ price again,
Launch 6cores CPU, and 8c, 4C Apus.
3 month later, launch threadripper, for 24. 32. 48 cores, possible 64c.
In this way, should be able to maximize the profit for AMD and offerring reasonable price for customers.

I don't know. If that Intel 10 core is really coming does AMD want to stay at 8. By the looks of that chip I'm on the band wagon of theres room for 2 x 8 core chips under that lid but we'll see. I've been quite happy with my R7 1700 running 3. 88ghz auto voltage and stock cooler. Radeon VII was impressive except the price kills it. AND I'm excited for Navi but my expectations are low. Radeon had bombed to many times, I'm expecting Navi to be lower power and at best 20% improvement over Polaris.

I predict Keith is going to be wrong. Max 8 cores? Nope. Max 12 cores? possibly. But I think it'll be Max 16 cores, they may choose to only enable this on X570 series mobos if the power draw is quite high with that part.
I also predict they'll bring out a really powerful APU using the same layout, instead of 2 CCX they might go with 1 CCX+ 1 GPU chiplet.
--Threadrippers have already doubled to 32, but could go further.

Keith is dead wrong! Up to 16 cores, the 8C will be sold for around $200 (around $230 for the X model. Yes, AMD is sandbagging. AMD shows that they can beat the 9900k head to head (8 cores) with a low power and slow RAM (2666 MT/s. The press (in general) misses the plot, but that is just my opinion.
