we are going to touch upon the very basics of Photoshop, in other words, the life-lines of Photoshop. This tutorial is for both pure beginners who are starting out as well as for intermediates who are looking for a clarification on the basics or might have some confusions here and there. So, first off, we'll be looking at what are layers, how they function and their usage. Layers is the heart of Photoshop and is one of the major reasons why people switch to Photoshop from Lightroom or other image processing applications. Then we'll be looking at one of the most confusing but actually really simple technique and feature called making. This is one of the most asked stuff, and also confusing and intimidating to perform in Photoshop. But in actuality, it's really easy. At the end, we'll be looking into smart objects and will compare its benefits over normal raster layers. We'll be analyzing the non-destructive abilities of smart objects in Photoshop

Yes I get this but HOW do you put a smart filter on a smart filter? Like when you've painted the hair of a human with oil painting filter, and you put another smart filter on it like gaussian blur, than the hair also blurs! And when you want to take the gausian blur away from the face, it shows the oil filter again, but then on the face! So I guess you should make a new layer. But when I copy the layer and make a new one, it still got the same issues. Which button makes it possible to keep the oil filter in the new layer on the hair, without gettig it messed up when you put another smart filter on it? I thought maybe putting the layers together and working from there, but the only thing that happens is that it puts ALL the layers together.

I got a question on pouch design (MOCKUPS) using clipping mask. Using pen tool i draw a pouch shape and i filled colour on it, then i took another layer and placed Stylish blue wavy lines abstract background design from freepik. Except both edge on left and right side, my design fit inside of the clipping mask. Now i duplicate the layer to the left and another duplicate the layer to right and trying to adjust background using clipping mask which should connect to both left and right corner. But i am not able to fix it. Any solution?
Note: i dont want to stretch the design to fix my package because my design go wide and looks ugly.

Im trying to find a way to cut an ellipse shape (same size/same position) from multiple image layers (10+. I want to use those ellipses in another project. It would be nice if I could do this non-destructively. TY

Will a Smart Object file behave the same way in a program other than Photoshop? Also once I put a Smart Object on a layer in Photoshop, how can I remove it?
Thanks

So then, what is the use of a rasterized image? And please make a video on Flatten, Merge visible, & the like? And yes, this was an excellent tutorial. Very useful.

For all the photographers (talking about smart objects) think like they are Raw files. All the data is there all the time and you can change it when you need it.

Why does everyone have to go so damn fast when they start talking/teaching? Such a shame. So much knowledge and so little ability to share it with a beginner.

I can't remember how to make an image above all the layers to edit it independently, without flattening it. Hope you can help please. Always a fan.

Layer and mask are already confusing, you confused it further by using overlay.
Why the picture became red when I painted it in white?

I have watched many videos to understand layers but no one could make it so easy to understand as you did. Thanks! It helped a lot: )

Thank you. That's a lot I've learnt. I ask if you can do another regarding the Layer style eg: this layer vs underlying layer. etc
