OLD MAN that is a semi hardcore PC gamer (Windows 10) NEEDS help please. Is there a program that encompasses EVERYTHING a Pc needs to keep it running smoothly and not get anymore of these god forsaken antivirus/performance/spyware pop up/malware/privacy/keylog/password blockers? If you where going to use a paid service what one would use? Information below is about avast PAID anti virus. Their Free version is great. I use avast paid service and it is a nightmare! I uninstalled it, there is some sort of code that will totally disable the ability to use a search engine. Once I reinstalled it I had no problem. The program constantly harasses you to buy other programs like password security, in private web browsing, performance enhancement all of which I was lead to believe was included with their paid version but its not! Same thing happened with one of their one month free trials since canceling it I am getting errors once a day at least. I am so sick of getting pop ups from avast I might as well not have any pop up protection at all. Now I have to totally reinstall windows and my other programs to get my pc to operate correctly again.

I tried Panda once a few years ago.....and I felt that the 'downside' of Panda being a 'resource-light' antivirus suite was that the detection rates of this software is quite poor -compared to other suites. Independent lab-testing over the years has seemed to ALWAYS confirm this fact. This, alone, seems to make Panda a very sub-par antivirus program. AVG has always seemed to me to be VERY-APTLY NAMED : Average .......or 'medicre' at best. I've always felt -from the little I've experimented with AVG in the past that this has always been a very 'average' antivirus program with average detection rates, removal abilities, etc. I've used Avira more than any other suite over the years. The interface seems more intellectual than any other.....(perhaps TOO much so for most 'casual' users; as it may seem 'intimidating' to figure out) and independent labs always give Avira extremely high detection rates...

Bitdefender doesn't work probably, both Free and Paid version. I used to use Bitdefender Internet Security for 2 years, and yes, it can detect most of virus and malware. The support team is good. But there is one thing annoying me, the Exclusion Option. No matter what I add to the exclusion option, Bitdefender still block and delete some file and folder. I tried Norton Security for 6 month (trial version) and I see that it's better than Bitdef, everything work well. And the Kaspersky... never, I don't want to use Russian's products. The last one is McAfee. I hate this software and the company. Especially McAfee's CEO since he lied about hacking iPhone user's information.

I have 'mixed' feelings about using un-American / non -American anti-virus suites -which most seem to be. The 'upside' of Avira being developed by a German company is that it -like Germans- is very 'intellectual,' almost 'to a fault.' The 'downside' is that I have an EXTREME HATRED of Nazis.....and thus Germans to a great extent......having fought against and killed so many in WWII. I supposedly have 'SOME' German ancestry and NO Jewish ancestry......but I feel a lot more Jewish or Pro-Semite than German ESP. when it comes to 'memories' of fighting those damned 'huns' many years ago......

I had a terrible experience with Avira. there were atleast 3 utilities that came with it that I don't want. Worst of all, couldn't get rid of the system speed up utility. Simply couldn't uninstall it from windows 10. Now, the last thing one would want out of an anti-virus/anti-malware program is utilities sitting in your system that you don't want. Its for this very reason that we are downloading anti-virus/anti-malware programs in the first place. Just formatted my C drive to get rid of this. I think at this point, I will stick to avast or at best try out bit defender.

Tech Radar article gives a lot of info on diff free AVs: The best free antivirus to download 2017 If you are not using a VPN, I highly recommend BitDefender, as mentioned in the video, just set it and forget it. However, I am looking for an alternative, cuz BD isn't fully compatible with my PIA (Private Internet Access) VPN. Seems to cause disconnects with PIA according to some people. I'm about to research Sophos Home as a possibility (see article above) and Avira. I detest regular popups.

It's an absolute travesty that American antivirus companies....at least in many recent years....haven't made antivirus software that scores nearly as high as companies from Rusky-land, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Romania, etc. I would like to buy EVERYTHING-American......but have, admittedly, found it very difficult to find incentive to do this in the last few decades.......

After reading all the comments I have no idea which antivirus to use. SuperAntiSpyware is what I've used for many years. Used to use Avast and got sick of all the problems I had with it. What about malware? A few of the Spyware programs say the cover malware as well. How about doing a best 5 or 10 best malware programs?
