Go back with backspace extension, literally can't use chrome without it. Some other extensions that I use: Ratings Preview Shows you the likes and dislike bar on the thumbnail in youtube Hover Zoom Enlarges the image when you hover on it, really works great with google image search Selection Search Highlight a text and immediately search it on other websites, you need to manually add the search engine but it works well uBlock Origin The actual best adblock on chrome... seriously Download Shelf Autohide Hides the download bar when downloads finish Stylus Already mentioned in the video but it's really helpful, especially when you know how to tinker with CSS Previous and Next page keyboard navigation Enables you to go to the next page using the using the left/right key, helpful on most websites but buggy on some Honorable Mentions BetterTTV - if you're using twitch, you need this Image Search Option - only really helpful if you're in dire need of other image search engines Tampermonkey - only useful if you know how to write javascript, you can also install pre-made scripts on greasyfork but most of them aren't safe

Thanks for doing the research on these extensions and presenting them so clearly. I'm not a fan of Chrome, but Wikiwand and Dark Reader could be useful for me. By the way, do you have any recommendations on how to save comments from YouTube that extend more than a screen? From recipes to DIY to politics, I occasionally would like to save a long comment. I've been making do with the scroll capture feature on my Samsung phone but would like the comment as text, not an image. Do you know of any Android app that would provide this functionality? Thanks.

Just added Wikiwand, thank you. One extension that I really like but is now gone from the store is OneWindow. It forces Chrome to open new windows into tabs. And since Chrome does not seem to have this ability natively... Another is a version of the Share To Facebook extension that would allow you to highlight some text on a web page, then is the share button and it will share the page, with your highlighted text as a quote. Then, of course, there's AdBlock Plus and New Tab Redirect to load my home page on the New Tab command.

Great! Chrome with 5 extensions needs a lot of time to start, you should add 5 more and go to the vacation and when you come back, your google chrome is there. It opened its window!!! Until I found out that there is VIVALDI browser, I had A LOT of problems with chrome. Slow work, I had to go to google to find out how to make it faster. And it works for a week or two, then it is slow again. Long live VIVALDI. And it can use all chrome extensions. At the moment, I use 4, and it is not slower because of it.

Thanks TechGumbo, but after watching a leaked video of a meeting with Google exes, demonstrating their utter contempt for those of us who don't happen to share their political views, (half of the country) I dropped Google Chrome and replaced it with Vivaldi. It's just as fast as Google Chrome, highly customizable, and isn't a memory hog like Google Chrome. Incidentally, Vivaldi is also chromium-based and can use these same extensions from the Chrome Web Store.

Some honorable mentions that I personally can't live without: Adblock - Removes ads on websites including video ads Hover zoom - put your mouse over an image and it instantly enlarges itself, so you don't have to click the link to look at it. Magic actions for youtube - a lot of useful tools for youtube like toggle default quality, toggle annotations on/off, fullscreen button that still leaves your tabs visible at the top

My only bone I have to pick with you is your recommendation for TINYEYE, this extension sucks big time 99% of the time it doesn't identify pictures I've sent to it and no way does this extension beat Google Images. Google Images identifies more pictures than Tinyeye hands down. I have more success with Google Images.
