Best Push Up Ever (PERIOD)

Best Push Up Ever (PERIOD)

There are hundreds or ways to do pushups, but this video shows you the best push up ever. There are two main reasons why this is the case. First, in order to fully contract the chest you must incorporate horizontal adduction at the shoulder joint. This is impossible if your hands are kept fixed in place to the ground right? Not necessarily. In order to contract the chest and feel the inner chest fully engage, you need to realize how effective relative joint motion can help you. You can get horizontal adduction at the shoulder by either moving your shoulder on your body or by moving your body on your shoulder. In this chest exercise, I show you how the pushup can be altered slightly to include body movement on the fixed shoulder to fully contract the chest and get bigger pecs. All you have to do is slightly turn your chest towards one side as you push up. You will want to push more with the arm you are turning towards, which brings up the second major advantage of this variation. You are getting some one sided overload which can help you to turn the basic pushup into more of a mass building movement. Don-t worry about creating asymmetrical chest development. All you have to do is alternate rotations to the right and left sides until reaching failure throughout the set. Building a big chest with pushups is something that many say is impossible. That-s not true. All you have to do is learn how to overload the chest while doing the exercise and find a way to make it maximally effective (taking the chest to its fully contracted state) and you can achieve size and strength gains doing it. This video shows you how to make those slight tweaks to start getting more out of this best pushup ever. Now, if you are just starting out and can-t do this in the traditional push up position, or you can-t feel the difference just yet since you are lacking mind muscle control-don-t sweat it. Do the incline version I show you at the end and you will begin to feel the difference right away. Start building a big chest at home with pushups by incorporating this exercise into your home chest workout routine. I tried this, while you may be involving your chest more, you're working the triceps a whole lot more as well. Considering the fact that you are taking some weight off one arm while the other arm is picking up the slack. I like the exercise though and I will continue to do it. It makes me wonder what exercise would be nice for someone who would want a bigger chest without the ginormous triceps, other than flies.

Big fan of Jeff but looks like the adduction here is accomplished by rotating the torso WITH gravity rather than against. You-re dropping the off side shoulder down towards the ground, or at least not moving it against gravity. You might get a contraction just by flexing it at the end of the motion, like a concentration curl, but it-s hard to see how rotating the torso makes the pec work against gravity.

while watching this video, i got down and tried this and i felt a greater contraction in my chest than doing regular pushups. This movement does really enable you to isolate each side which puts more stress on that area causing you to generate more force. More stress = more force production = more gainz!
What do you call these?

Hi Jeff! I have been doing this type of Push Ups since you published this video and i have the following question: Is it OK if i am doing Push Ups daily? They are tough but i usually try to do 100 to 160 reps per day and i am wondering if i am overworking my chest. Thanks in advance!

Not sure about this push up method. The problem will be that you initiate the rotation with the other side that is supposed to do less during the rep. So maybe it's possible to consciously initiate the rotation movement with the desired arm. Will try this at home. ;-)

My progression narrates that after doing regular I switch to diamond pushups. Can I also do this switch on diamond pushup or I'm gonna get -rotator cuff- injury since my hands are closer together in diamond pushups and that might be affecting my shoulders

totally agreed for me its the best pushup period. honestly I couldnt really feel the contraction in my pecs when I was doing regular pushups but when I did this I immediately felt the squeezing and soreness in my chest very pleasing pain

Nice mate, just ran my first marathon in a good time, the lower half of my body is truly ripped. trying to sort out my upper body to match. good video, gonna try these out see if I get some results.

Jeff what do you think about the archer pushup variation in order to get a similar contraction? Another thing I've tried is putting one arm up on a block and the other on the floor. Your thoughts?

I have never gotten a better pump and DOMS in my chest than a heavy chest workout with these and weighted dips. This pushup is the shit. Trying to work up to completely one arm version.
