How Pectus Excavatum Is Killing Your Gains. No actually though. I've had a rather severe case my whole life, which has felt like its been getting worse self image wise as i get older and start to care more about girls, spring break, etc. Im 18 yo rn and throughout hs tried to work out and get in shape tons of time, but never could stick to anything substantial, almost every time leading up to summer I would work out at least an hour daily, but then first beach trip/pool party despite my efforts and self improvement I just can't bring myself to take the shirt off. I know deep down people won't think -huh he's realy gotten in shape! - It'll be -why does he look like the victim of a cannonball- and after that i lose motivation entirely in a whats the point kinda way. To me it feels like why improve yourself in these menial ways when you can do nothing about it without surgical intervention? Luckily, my awesome mom realized without me saying anything the mental toll it was taking on me before a huge spring break trip to puerto rico. She was like hey lets go get a consultation, and so we did. I had never known prior, but apparently the procedure is ALMOST ALWAYS covered by insurance because of the adverse health efects. I had no clue and thus had never pursued it as an option. Now i am less than 3 weeks from my operation and super excited. It feels like a new chapter and a second chance in life to find body confidence. All I know is the second I'm cleared to, im GRINDING my life away in that gym. My hope is that I'll finally feel like my physique is actually in my control. Wish me luck lol the procedure recovery is supposed to be excruciating.

As a 16 year old, I haven't really went to the doctor yet for a proper consultation about this condition as well, though since I was a kid, the people around me and I have always noticed this -hole in my chest-. It really bothers me a lot especially when I change my shirt in front of my friends or when I go swimming-- which is the primary reason why I avoid being shirtless as much as possible. It was not until a year ago that I was able to search this condition on the internet and eventually, I found out about pectus excavatum. I tried sharing this to my family and they always laugh it off and say that -It's not really a big of a deal-. Ever since then, I became more conscious about my posture, particularly with my chest. And so, I started doing home exercises and it has been a year already since I started. However, a new problem has also arise. Certain body changes are apparent and visible after doing frequent exercises (at least 3 times a week. Most notably, I have developed my biceps and triceps, some abs and legs as well, but my chest has progressed very minimally (it's slowly forming a v-shaped on my chest as well, which makes my sunken chest more prominent side view. With that, this has also made me consider to take in protein shake to see if it will be helpful with my gains, though I don't really do 'heavy stuff' in my workout such as bench-presses and doing weights. Maybe my workout routine has to do with this, but I am pretty sure that after a year of exercising, I should have probably gain some pecs by now.
What do you guys think?

i remember going to the doctor one day for a checkup. he had me lift my shirt and he was astounded on how much my sternum sunk into my chest, but to me, it was completely normal. my sunken chest was pushing my heart to the right and affecting my lung capacity. i didn't think it was alarming in any way, as i understood what my condition was, i just didn't understand how serious it was, until that day. i remember him telling me i most likely needed to undergo surgery - i was so worried, as i've never in my life, had to have surgery for anything. i can't put into words how scared i was. -despair- comes to the mind. i was literally crying in the waiting room after my appointment, to setup another appointment with another doctor's office out of town where i could have the surgery take place.
that was nearly 4 years ago. i underwent the nuss procedure. the worst pain in my life, but it was worth it. for those of you who aren't familiar with it, you have to wear this brace for 2 years. it sounds scary, i know. the procedure itself isn't so pretty, but the recovery is the worst. if you have to get this procedure done, don't wait. no matter how painful it may seem, just get it done. this is to those who's case is more serious, not to those who want it done for cosmetic reasons. if i waited any longer, i most likely could have died.

To anybody that can help: today October 28th 2021 I went to the doctor for my caved in chest and the look on her face was indescribable when I lifted up my shirt. The back story is on june 8th 2021 I felt like I lost everything because of an argument between me and my girl which resulted in our -friends- calling the cops on me and me being put in handcuffs while the cops watched our -friends- going into MY apartment and taking everything of value. Thank God I didn-t go to jail after I was release from the hand cuffs I walked in and I started beating my chest in to get my heart to stop and I hit it over 100 times very very hard. The next day it was swollen to the point my face was twitching and I could barely breathe. Fast forward to a few days later the swelling went down and the damage was revealed to my chest. Can this be fixed? Am I gonna die? I don-t wanna die I found happiness and when I look at my girl all I do is cry because I am worried I-m gonna pass

I had the nuss procedure done. I had a pretty severe case of PE too. The surgery sucked ass and the bar was a little uncomfortable for those three years. That being said, I am so glad I did the surgery. Like soooo glad. I can breathe better, I don-t feet my heart all of the time, it looks almost normal (I-m still super skinny lol. If you-re under 16 and thinking about getting this surgery: do it! If you wait until you-re older there-s a chance of the PE -relapsing. - It-s much better to do it when you-re young so your bones naturally harden with the sternum in its new position. I had the surgery done 10 years ago and the bar was removed 7 years ago. I have not had any regression and I feel great.
Seriously, if you have the opportunity to get this surgery and you-re under 16, do it! It-ll suck but you-ll be so happy that you did it.

Hey, I just wanted to give you my experience with excavatum. I've been doing 4 sets of 50 decline pushups for 10 months now. I do 2 sets of 50 in the morning and 2 sets of 50 in the evening no regular pushups, no incline pushups, just decline pushups and then I do chair dips, 2 sets of 15. I do this every other day. On off days I do 100 crunches and 50 side crunches on each side, then immediately follow that with a - minute plank and 40 second side planks. I look ripped as hell, rib flare is down, back is stocky and the only reason I would use the gym is for legs and biceps. Happy with results though.

This is the best video I have ever found and the things what are You saying On the end are priceless! I came back to workouts after few years and now I found even bigger motivation! I know my chest and I know that I cannot take more than 100kg on bench Press. It will not happen No matter how long I train my chest but now I know that is not most important. Most important is how I am stretching this muscles and how I am feeling. Thank You for this amazing video. No doubts I am subscribing You. Btw. In my case that chest also including sticking out belly. Do You have some video about this problem?

Always thought my chest was like this just cus of how skinny I was, then started hitting the gym and after six months I put a lotta muscle on my chest and upper body but my chest was still sunken in. Then I found out it was a deformity and I was kinda bummed out cus a website said surgery was the only fix. But seeing this and all the comments saying they-ve seen a difference, I-m hyped to put this work in and fix this pectus shit!

I've been train for a while and while my muscles are growing up, I see the dimension of my sunken chest more and more.
This makes me depressive. I have a good muscle development by my own home trainig but the sunken chest lets look me flat by the view of my side body.
It's really heavy to handle that mentally and makes my day bad everyday. I hope your video will help me to get a normal chest. -
