So it's been 3 months since I had my burn on my leg. It's healed up pretty well but still has a lot of healing to do. I share more about how I've taken care of it, after care, supplies I used, how much it all cost and more. I

Thats crazy I spilt a kettle of boiling water on my hand back in October. I was a bit luckier, since it was on my hand so it wasnt as big (covered about half the back of my hand and 1/4 of the front, as well as part of my thumb and pointing finger lol) but It was only second degree not third degree. I cant imagine how painful that must be, especially on your leg. If you ever get a burn like this, especially if its from steam or water, put it under cold water immediately Wet burns continue to burn and essentially cook your skin the longer theyre left, and putting cold water on the burn stops that. That stops you from getting a worse burn. And, if youre like Chloe or me and you notice that your skin has peeled away go to the hospital Right Away. The hospital will be able to dress your burn and tell you what to expect and give you pain medication. Id also suggest going for weekly check ups, but Im lucky enough to live somewhere with free health care. But doctors know best. I have minimal scarring now, just some discolouration due to new skin, and I definitely think thats because I had a wonderful doctor that I saw once a week. Doctors are also able to give you dressings for free and then you can be sure you have the best possibleWhile my hand freshly burned I kept it bandaged for 72 hours, and then went to the dr to get it checked up on (very important because second and third degree burns can get infected) and then got the burn re-dressed but with special burn gauze and a little bit loose. I then got a check up once a week, and by the third week I was changing my bandages by myself at home. When you do this its important that the burn has started to scab over a bit. Then you wash it with a bit of water and let it air dry in a clean environment before bandaging it. It took just over 4 weeks for me to get my bandages off, and this was when the new skin grew back completely. Then I just had to deal with scabbing (and leaving the scabs until they fell off naturally. When it comes to this you have to keep it hydrated, so I used Vaseline for the first three days to really moisturize my hand and then switched to aveeno Its also good to use polysporin as this helps heal scarring. Also keep in mind that if you have a second or third degree burn (any burn where skin is burned off) Do Not get it wet while the skin is raw (minus the one time of running it under cold water) and do not put any substances like honey or aloe on it. Only put what doctors tells you to put on it. Its an open wound and can get infected really easily so keep it bandaged while you go outside Look out for puss and weird smells If you burn your hand I also suggest stretching your hand so that the new skin heals properly and the scar wont be too noticeable Its normal for severe burns to take a while to heal and very normal for these scars to last quite a while It just takes time and patience

So grateful for this ChloeI commented on your last video, bc almost the same thing happened to me 7-8 weeks ago. I searched for pictures on how it would heal and I kept seeing people who's 2-3 degree burns healed in 2 months(I mean with a little lighter skin but almost skin color. I felt so disappointed bc mine does the same as yours, it's light and almost white when I'm laying down or take off the bandage, I stand up and in a few minutes it turns back to deep purple/red. Seeing that yours is doing the same puts my mind at ease a little bitI think those who never experienced something like this say that this mindset is a turn off because even until it happened to me I could not imagine how much it alters someone's view of themselves. You have to create a whole new self image for yourself, because you don't look like you used to anymoreIt's emotionally sososoo challenging, I'm with youLooking forward to the laser update

My husband had an accident when he was 13 and his whole body was in fire, the worst was his arms that even now have a really bad scars, he had some operations ( they took skin from his head and leg and had to cover the arms with that skin because the skin was literally missing and it will never be the same, not even now after 6 years is healed, the skin is so smooth ( burned) there and its really itching him sometimes, now his arms (after 6 years) looks like her leg the first days she burned herself, so u can imagine how bad it was. And the accident happened at a night with the kids by the fire, that liquid to make the fire stronger just jumped on his skin and he burned for like 10 min until the ambulance came, and the kids were just watching him like f idiots instead of putting their T-shirt down and cover him

I also got 2nd degree burn but on my chest because of boiling water. And I repeat it here first cool water for 15-20 min. No cold water because it will damage your skin more after that go to the emergency room. I did that and my skin was healed after 2 weeks it was still really fair (I am black) after 2 more weeks the color was back. My skin is a few shades darker than my normal skin but it is is very smooth and the texture and feeling are totally normal. I also freaked out at the beginning because when I burnt myself I could see that what was left was pinkish /white and I though that it would stay the same. But now after 2 years I have totally accepted my scar I just always put sunscreen on it if it is exposed even on sunny days. So really cool water for 15-30 in is super important I am a living proof

The closest thing Ive had to a water burn was when I was cooking some shell pasta. Turned out, the shell pasta had trapped some of the scalding hot water inside the pasta, against the wooden spoon. So, I burned the tip of my tongue with 100+C scalding hot water. I immediately sort of let my jaw open and let the water quickly drop out of my mouth, since I was in shock. Truthfully, it was hot, but then its turned so so numb. I immediately placed my tongue under cold running water (not the most hygienic but I still burned something. Days later, the tip of my tongue was so raw and there were soooo many dead tastebuds. Whenever I rubbed the tip of my tongue to the top of the roof of my mouth, it felt like straight up leather

i noticed that you've been reacting to some negative comments in your previous videos etc. recently. I really hope you don't take them as a reflection of your work on YouTube. There are ALWAYS going to be trash people online. You are such a lovely, kind hearted and sensitive person and your workouts have helped me (and my husband) massively and im having an awesome time getting fitter: ) What i want to say is please dont give negative people in your comments sections bring you down in any way or make you feel the need to justify yourself. You are a hard working, amazing, beautiful person and you deserve all the success and love. Wishing you swift healing and looking forward to this laser thing if you decide to do it.

hey Chloe I'm glad you're doing well, I still remember the day when you got injured and I learned what YouTube stories was. for the Aloe Vera, I think the reason why you don't apply it is similar to what my culinary teacher told my class. he told us not to apply something like butter or polysporin or anything that was not water because it'll trap all the heat inside the skin and cause it to burn you further and make it hurt more. I'm sure other people are right with Aloe Vera and etc working, but you need to apply water first until it cools downkeep on fighting you're still kicking my butt with your booty challenge rn

This video just took me 5 years back to when I burned the exact same leg at the exact same place as you with boiling water from a kettle while making a tea. Your pictures reminded me of what my leg looked like back then and how hard the whole healing proces was. Some people still don't understand how traumatizing that whole thing was for me and that even today I am afraid of boiling water and very careful with it. The scar on my leg has since faded, but I will always be scarred inside. Chloe you are so strong I am so so glad it is healing, take care Chloe, love u.

Im so sorry, i didnt mean it in that way. I meant that it was sick and shocking that you could even think that people would think negative things about you cause you go a burn and didnt look perfect. Its so sad that many women feel that way. You got an injury, and the most important thing is to focus on healing and i think all of your followers would understand that. I understant that you got really upset and that you could not film videos, but that comes second. I should have explained myself better. I love you and you are beautiful an such an inspiration.

Some people on the internet. Seriously, I'm so sick of people almost forcing online personalities to always be super body positive, confident. self-loving, etc. Everyone has bad days and frankly, I know very few people who wouldn't be upset at sustaining a large burn or injury on a art of their body they took pride in. I think this is why influencers strugle with being upfront about their feelings and emotions. They risk scrutiny whether they are open or not and especially if they come clean about past experiences or statements.
