Frustrated senior. I was using a recumbent bike for 8 years and one day my IT band blew up. Or at least that is what I thought. Four months later and 10 Chiro adjustment (which - short term did make me feel better, but the root cause was never actually addressed. So, 4 months in, still have debilitating pain (yep on 1 side. I am into a natural approach regarding every aspect of my life and due to medical (vaxx) injury 30 years ago. I don't take pain killers because. they tend to stop my breathing, make my eyes and throat swell shut and oh yeah let's not forget hives all over my body. I consider rather serious - this pretty much applies to every allopathic approach. Wouldn't it be nice to just take a pill (as suggested by friends and family?
Your video is amazing. I am a compulsive researcher (in another life) and the amount of useless information for ITB pain/knee pain is astounding. Anyhow, finally being able to pinpoint where to start gives me hope. Thank you.

I've been to an Orthopedic specialist. The diagnosis, after a lot of tests was -lower back pain-. I have worked with my physical therapist for nearly two months now and do daily home exercises. She and the Orthopedic specialist have done provocative tests for SI joint pain because that's what previous doctors have told me is my condition. The provocative tests for
SI joint are negative. My PT, after fully understanding my symptoms ventured a guess -muscle pain-. but continues to treat me as if it is SI joint pain. So you can only imagine how I must have felt when I accidentally happened upon this video of yours. I will bring this TFL possibility to the PT's attention. I don't fully understand your treatment, but I think you are describing my exact
concern, and I will continue to watch this video until I feel I have an understanding. THANKS! Brian

EXCELLENT Cori! I am working even more on the muscles that attach and surround the ITB since my tight ITB is causing side knee pain in my left leg. My science mind has to understand my muscles and anatomy structure in order to prevent (as much as possible) this issue from returning. I am not just a -fix the symptoms- kind of gal. My foot placement, running shoes, etc. also come into play as causes. My left leg / hip area has always been weaker than my right (even in my bone density test. It's a consistent work in progress. I appreciate your detailed explanation. :)

I have recently fixed my anterior hip pain of 8+ months. VERY tight, sharp pain.
Felt deep within the Psoas, even near the insertion of the satorious.
Stretched the TFL and it INSTANTLY went away.
Anyone who has issues with pain, get a anatomy diagram up and do one stretch a week, per muscle group, if the pain goes. Thats the muscle causing the issue.
Went from running 40mpw to only 15 as of last week.

Very clear and informative. Entire time I was targeting the TFL but didn-t realize that the tightness there was due to it being overactive.
And when I tried to focus on the glute med, I was really only working the piriformis. Felt instant relief of tightness from my lower back and all the way down. Thank you so much.

I-ve been having a lot of knee issues and lately been working to strengthen my glutes, but this week I had pain at the front of my hip that made it impossible to go up weight on my deadlifts. I wonder if it-s that muscle causing me issues because I was starting to feel a lot more at the front of my hip.

Ugh thank you! I was wondering why the sides of my hip were getting so sore vs my actual butt when I do lateral raises and why my lower back started hurting so bad. I realized stretching helps a lot but didn-t know why-what was going on. I-ll make some adjustments now. Thank you

Excellent video. The fact that you don't just need to find the -right- exercise but also ensure that you're actually feeling it in the right place is critical, yet gets missed a lot. You can tell good physios from -just ok- ones based on whether they check this or not.

Hi, this is great but a lot. Could you turn it into a guided workout/stretch addressing all these points. I fell overwhelmed and I can't do a bunch of things I normally do cause of the pain and I cant see a physio during lockdown. so this would be awesome!

I have this problem but my left gluteus medius is very strong and its really hard for me to activate the right glutei medius. my left glute med always wants to take over even with single leg exercises but also my tfl takes over. its so frustrating
