5 FOOT STRETCHES for Foot and Ankle Mobility Our feet and ankles are our foundation. Immobility or instability there can lead to movement compensations up our entire body. And even though that ankle sprain or plantar fasciitis may now not -hurt, - we can never stop doing what made us better. And if we never did rehab and just rested till it didn-t hurt? Well that injury could have altered our recruitment patterns or how we use muscles during movements, which could be why we-ve ended up with hip or even lower back pain years later! That-s why it is key we include proper mobility and stability moves for our foundation in our workout routines! Keep your feet and ankles strong and stable to prevent injury, improve your running gait and even squat lower with these 5 moves!

This one is really helpful to me now. I started adding skipping to my (mostly) daily routine and sometimes I have to stop to stretch because my tendons and fascia tense up. How does she lean so far back her elbows touch the mat in the one stretch? Goodness! I will have to work up to that one. I wonder if she has any moves that would help that one SI joint that just doesn-t want to cooperate and go back in its place. I do her World-s Greatest Stretch video every morning and that has helped so much with reducing tightness and pain.

I transitioned form wearing orthotics all the time to walking barefoot around the house. But I did it too fast! Now my feet feel kind of flat (my ankles also ache) and I lost the connection to my lower glutes area (right above hamstrings) when I-m walking which makes me really unstable on my feet. So I-m back to wearing orthotics again. But I-m wondering how to -connect- my feet to my glute area again as I-m transitioning off the orthotics? Thx

Fantastic video! I had a foot injury/surgery last year and am still left with some ankle & hip issues that physical therapy did not address. Your glute activation exercises have helped my hip issues tremendously - they are almost totally gone. Can-t wait to see how I respond to the exercises in this video. Thank you for all you do!

Excellent video! I started getting really bad ankle pain about 3 months ago. I found giving up tomatoes and bell peppers helped massively! Throw in these exercises some of which I've already been doing and I'm pain free most of the time now. Thank you Corey, great stuff as always!

Crikey, your ankle dorsiflexion in the 2nd exercise! My shin is at a much much steeper angle when I rock back to put heel to the ground. Do you think the standing stretch against the wall step would be better for me to start with and then progress to the kneeling one Cori?

0: 56 - Heel Walks
1: 29 - Single-Leg Rocking Ankle Stretch
2: 31 - Peroneal Shin Stretch
3: 27 - Foot Foam Rolling
4: 39 - Extended Range Calf Raises
Helpful for those (like me) that need to come back to the video for the steps, again.

Thank you for this! I have a longstanding ankle injury which had lead to some restriction of movement in my left ankle. I am hoping that by working on these exercises it may loosen some of the tightness and enable me to do more efficient squats etc.

Great stuff. (As usual) Though I'm not focusing on ankle stretches with this question, what are your thoughts on balance (wobble) boards? I use one at the kitchen counter when I'm preparing a meal, and I always feel fortified afterwards.

There is always something to learn in your videos! That says a lot in this world of constant flooding with info, to have a space and a teacher that can still show some aspect one might not have found until now. ----

Thanks for this. I'm a jump rope queen and it's been harder to do my favorite thing lately without ankle, feet, and calf discomfort. I've tried memory foam, a mat, and orthotics, it's just torture. -
