People say the cowboy ridge in Zion National Park is a rattlesnake infested cactus field. Im sure it can be during certain months but its December and only the cacti are out. After looking into every possible ski objective within 800 miles we decided that my birthday ski trip would have to be postponed. The weather up north has been erratic with heavy snow, then rain, then intense heat and last of all fridged temperatures strait from the arctic. So we decided to head a couple hours south to the red rock and sunny skies of Zion National Park. There are lots of options in Zion. But late the night before this trip Chase sent a link to this route and it seemed like just my thing. Id never heard of the Cowboy Ridge and for the first half of the day I called it the cowboy scramble but it proved to be just the thing to sooth our frustrations at being denied a volcano

Hey Danny, we are an emerging outdoor clothing company known for our unique fabrics and sustainable practices. We've been really enjoying your content and would love to collaborate if you are interested. Just in case, weve also sent you an email about it with more details. Anyways, have a nice day! -Carson, FounderSeadon.

So what kind of shoes do you guys like for these scrambles? I'm familiar with running shoes, but not necessarily ones that allow for safe scrambles like this. I'm mostly doing trail runs at this point, and looking to add some elevation runs in the future

Nice one guys, Zion is such a haven of adventure. You guys have done a little canyoneering in your videos. You could certainly get further into that pursuit in the tight and wet enclaves of Zion. It is a canyoneering wonderland.

Thanks for taking us along. I really enjoyed this video as I enjoy most all your videos! Great job. Looked a little sketch trying to find that route on the way down, but you guys looked deep and found some purchase.

I always enjoy your videos so much and await until the next one arrives. Any chance you can give a shout-out to our Trucker Freedom Convoy in Ottawa, Canada happening right now? They have shown bravery too!

Danny might have botched the name but not how most people do. Kudos to all for pronouncing Zion correctly. Zion rhymes with lion, NOT lie on. For the love of God, please, everyone, tell a friend.

Im from the East Coast looking to go on a ski trip to the west. (Montana, Utah, And Idaho and maybe some states in between) What would you guys say is the best time for skiing in the west?

Whats with this lead or belay certification tags. Been climbing for 40 years winter summer and alpine. Is this more of the creeping safety industry trying to expand its business?
reply

Yes people in Utah affectionately call it Zions. But your pronunciation is spot on Zion rhymes with lion. (Not that funky way out of staters keep saying it)

How does your buddy like that gossamer gear kumo? Really liking the potential versatility of that pack for backpacking, day hikes, and carry on adventures.

Was wondering when your birthday video would come out. Sorry you couldn't find good powder to enjoy but the climb looked amazing. Happy Birthday!

Great video as always! I hope you guys know what an awesome life y'all are able to live! Hopefully you can do it for many more years to come

Man I wish I had buddies to do this type of stuff with. Unfortunately Im from the Midwest where people being into this stuff is rare.

They turn around and go home all satisfied, and I'm thinking: it ain't over yet, boys. Getting cliffed out is serious.

Was in Zion about the same time, definitely headed back this spring for the climbing. Great video as always.

Considering that Mediocre Amatueurs usually dress like skittles, I have no doubt that Danny found his coat.
reply

Wow, as I watched you climb up I was thinking, How they going to get down! Belated happy birthday Danny.
reply

I just want to know how you got all those shots from the side while your friends were climbing the 5. 7
