Kings Peak // Skiing Utahs Highest Point - Mountain trips

It took two years for us to get over our failed attempt and muster the energy to go out and attempt to ski Kings Peak again. Skiing Kings Peak is a 25 mile test of patience. 10 Miles of the approach from Henrys Fork trailhead is an endless gradual slog. Things only start to get interesting at Gunsight Pass nearly 11 miles into the journey. Still its a challenge I looked forward to completing and memory of failing to ski it has been nagging me for a while now

Totally disagree with your assessment of the beauty of the Uintas. While the Henry's Fork route isn't the most stellar, there are other mind-blowing routes that get you to the same place. More importantly, there are other peaks in the Uintas that I think are better than King's. I've also done many other peaks in other states and countries, I still find the beauty of Uintas unique and stunning.

Finally a MA video. It has been a while and it is a good one. Some of the zingers out of Dannys mouth always impresses and draws some laughs. That is too bad for Cristof in breaking a hip. I could only imagine how difficult it must be to be taken to a standstill and for so long. Ouch! Be well soon Cristof. You are missed!

Sure, Uintas may not be as dramatic looking as Wasatch, or Tetons, or Sawtooths. but their beauty in my opinion is more understated. We went there in Sept and fall colors were amazing, as well as the huge valleys. Of course we were not on a clock to hoof it to the peak and back, so we smelled the roses more perhaps.

Speaking of injuries (Poor Christof. Danny I have always been interested in learning about your training regimen. As in how much skiing, running, vert training, strength training, etc you do on a weekly basis. Do you take days off? How are you holding up in regards to injury prevention/management?
Cheers.

You're certainly not mediocre in your ability to complain or ruin an amazing experience. Climbed it a bunch of time and never been underwhelmed. Couldn't even finish watching your whine-athon. Way to go ) You want people to watch these right? I'd assume so given the number of advertisements.

The Uintas are the worst. Everyone should stay away!
The Uintas are an old mountain range and their ruggedness is eroding away. They are one of the few East to West ranges in North America. Over 1, 000 natural lakes with 500+ holding fish.
Seriously, awful. Stay away.

This is really cool, I wasn't sure if I'd ever see another attempt on this one from you guys. Considering how grueling the last attempt looked, and my own experience doing kings, you kept the video tone really chill!
Ragging on christof is just vicious! The poor man's cripped

I don't know what you guys have planned for the summer but if you aren't doing anything international, you should come try Mount Shasta. It's a phenomenal climb and the routes are so diverse in their technical challenge! Highly recommend either the Sargent's or Cassaval Ridge route!

Sorry to hear you're a man down, broken hip, did Christof leave your protected valley and suddenly age 3 decades? Hope his recovery goes well and goes quickly. You guys can tell him you took the hit for him today: this looked like a total slog.

Nice trip, awesome video, as always. Interesting to hear your Dynafit stories. I snapped a heel piece last season, first run of that season, radical SL. Hello Voile straps. Moved to ATK. Keep on keeping on. Heel up Christof.

First time commenting here, but love your content. I have viewed every adventure and never disappoints. Thoughts and prayers to Chistof on a lame injury. Hoping for a full recovery and back to the air and normal activities.

Would really love to see you boys in the Adirondacks of New York - a video doing the Great Range Traverse would be awesome. Not your typical hike you guys are on but I think Id love to see it - I can be a resource if need be!

I have a nice pair of dynafit ski crampons (120mm) if anyone is interested. For trade for some leftovers from your dinner. Located in Denver. One crampon is broken and can be JB welded or fixed properly: )

I'll be going to try and hike Kings Peak this weekend. Since it's been a month do you think the trail is hikable without skies around this time of the year? would love to hear from anyone seeing this

What bindings are you using/are your favorites? I got Dynafit Rotation bindings earlier this year and am currently loving them, though that could change when I have more miles behind me.

Enjoyed your sense of humor. You shoulda been an R & D engineer for DynaFit. Your critique of that crampon fitting was probably more damaging than 10 bad YELP reviews!

Hi fellow amateurs: ) what model ski trab's are that? love the set-up! moved to the F1 Lt's too and now looking for lighter ski's (on the black crow orb's with ATK's)

Is this the start of the Mediocre Amateur redemption tour? I assume next up Danny and Blake will need to go back and do the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim

It is great to have you guys back skiing in Utah! That is scary that Christoff broke a hip. Save some zingers for Christoff that way he gets better soon!

Christoff did f-ing WHAT? And on WHAT? Interesting how things like that seem to happen when we are taking our foot off the gas. WOW!
