So a reason to hate Barcelona is that Catalan is spoken in Catalonia? Okay, first of all, if that annoys you as hell, you can speak us in Spanish as well, everybody will understand you and talk to you. But just because Catalan is not a huge language like English or Spanish, doesn't mean it's less important. It's our culture and yes, it's a bit different from the rest of Spain, but guess what, variety is the spicy of life! I wouldn't hate any region in the world just for the language they speak, that was a bit dumb to you to say.
And Catalan is not a mix of anything, it's not a made-up language. It comes from latin and it's spoken in 4 countries in Europe (Spain, France, Andorra and Italy. So maybe the problem is not ours for using our own language, maybe it's from the rest of the world who can't catch up to the real situation here, that's this is BILINGUAL TERRITORY FFS, and there exist cultures beyond frontiers, I think you should already know that if you indeed love traveling. Culture, language or skin color muat never be a reason to hate.
Fare thee well

Didnt hate anything about Barcelona.
Didnt like the little kid i almost had to kick across the street as he was zeroing in on the wifeys hand bag.
Didnt love the 80+ year old woman that tried to pick pocket me just off the strip. I hate mosquitoes.
These people are professionals, the lady was being helped along by two men as she was sttempting to pick pocket me. Caught her hand in my back right pocket, turned around and all i could do was wave my finger and say NO, NO, No, No, ! she looked at me and said no, no, no! And they helped her along into the crowd

I get to spend 6 weeks in Barcelona starting Nov. 1, 2018 I have an apartment on the edge of the Gothic Quarter. I'm prepared for Spanish and I expect to buy food in a smaller market not on The Rambles. I'm hoping that I am one of the fewer tourists in town at the time. Fresh seafood, cured meats, freshest vegetables, good inexpensive wine and a burgeoning craft brewing community. Add incredible architecture to photograph and Barcelona's new traffic controls and I wish it were the full three months that I wanted.

Im portuguese and lived and worked in Barcelona. In all the time i was there, at my work, only 2 guys were dicks refusing to speak spanish and only catalan. Im talking about 2 persons in thousands that i contacted with. So every catalan speaks spanish and it's not a big deal for them to do it with you, because they know it's normal that you dont speak catalan. Cap prejudici si us plau: )

Locals are great, very helpful and friendly, although I don't support their appetite for independence. The rest of the people are either Muslims (sometimes I felt myself like I'm in Istanbul; I came to West, but seing hijabs all around) or blacks; job opportunities absolute zero (for us that don't want to work in CS, streets stink of marijuana 24/7. The worst place I have been to.

If I ever get to visit Barcelona, I'm just gonna leave my valuables in my hotel safe, with the exception of a small amount of cash that I can put in my shoe. I shall not take any chances. No eating, no drinking, no shopping, none of that shit. For once, I think Id just soon soak in in.

I've visited Barcelona and they speak perfect Spanish and broken to perfect English. So, yes, you can exist in Barcelona with speaking Spanish, English, and of course, Catalan. You do not have to know any Spanish or Catalan to have a great time here.

If you come to Spain in the winter don't be surprised if it starts snowing! I live in the south east and it snows, people. The weather is not good all year round. This year, in fact, it snowed everywhere in the country.

Make one mistake and several people will tell you Catalan is not a mix and how they would describe it to people who didn't know the language etc. I just think it's funny and nice how so many people want to help: )
