Really useful suggestion. There's a app called Show Me Around where you can hire a local to take you around the city. I hired one, she was a college student who had been studying english since a child and used the opportunity to practice her english with native speakers. I paid her 70 dollars for the day and she took me around town, showed me what I wanted to see, ordered food for me, gave me some insights on life in Russia. Very much worth it. I actually still talk to her sometimes.

I was in Moscow, I can tell how rude is the ticket seller of the underground train. Yes, they don't speak English (don't blame them - I should have learned more Russian language) and they don't know how to calculate. But the younger generation is superb. I met one Russian boy who helps me to do the interpretation and also help me to carry the luggage. He is soooooooooooooo cute.

Kept hearing about how expensive Russia is. Pfffff! I looked at hotels in the center of Moscow and other than the Ritz and St. Regis, you can stay like a king for about $150 a night. Good luck finding that in any other major city worth visiting. Im there in 2022 if Im still at the same job and have the same number of vacation weeks.

The most annoying thing you have to do in Russia is to register with local government in every city if you are staying for than 3 days as a tourist.
