Mark, you make me smile! I love your videos!
Canadian here. Yes, do try the poutine. It is everywhere and comes in many variations, from the traditional with the genuine cheese curds (which squeak when you chew them) with dark brown gravy, to the offbeat with bacon, pulled pork, or whatever. Also the Nanaimo bars and butter tarts. Beaver tails I think are more a central Canada thing (Ontario and Quebec. I have never had one.
If you are on the coast, definitely try the fish. Im a prairie girl (from Alberta) and my Dad used to take me fishing a lot. I ate so much trout I got sick of it, but what I wouldnt give to have some nice fresh trout now! Such a lovely fish, related to the salmon but with a more delicate flavour.
And Kraft dinner with hot dogs and ketchup! A low brow meal for sure but one that delighted my family. For a treat you can stir some sour cream into the KD.
Tim Hortons unfortunately has gone down hill. They made their fortune on good coffee with higher fat cream. It was wildly successful and for a while engendered as much patriotic fervour as fireworks on Canada Day. However management decided to begin using a lower quality coffee and they switched the doughnuts to the Orwellianly named Always Fresh system which actually means never fresh.

I tried poutine at a poutine place in Toronto - I was very disappointed - worst tasting gravy I ever tasted! Ug.
But I had the best salmon pizza from rusticate pizza in Toronto.
Next time I go to Canada I will try poutine again.
So far - the best poutine I have had is from here in Minnesota
The maple syrup here in Minnesota is just as good as what they have in Canada- only cheaper.
Van couverture is awesome - they haveeterific crepes everywhere in van culver.

French language is interesting to me. I can remember studying French in High School. It's weird how their is a street in France named my last name. Most of my family is from Louisiana. And most people from Louisiana have French Ancestry.

my fav canadian treat is Nanaimo without any kind of doubt. with beer I'd probably go with Beau's. oh man I should be flying to Toronto by saturday but with all the COVID mess I think it's gonna be impossible until maybe Easter or so

As a Canadian I love getting special lattes from a place called Second Cup. Another good alternative to Tim Hortons is Country Style, love their breakfast sandwiches. As for fast food poutine I really enjoy Harveys.

I had neighbors 30 years ago who would make a run to Ontario from Cleveland every once in a while to pick up a case of Heinz 57 steak sauce because it had apple chunks in it. Different formula up there!

You forgot one that is right up there with Tim Horton's and that is Swiss Chalet. The best barbecue chicken and ribs franchise restaurant around. The sauce for the chicken is spicy and sooo good.

I would higly suggest the mennonite and hutterite cooking coming out of manitoba and the other prairies. Some pretty amazing food you really won't find in the other provinces. South of winnipeg

I've gotten those maple leaf cookies from places like World Market before. They're pretty addictive, like Barnums Animal Crackers with double stuff maple cream sandwiched between them.
