Thank you to Visit Copenhagen: Bicycle Ride - In order to really blend in with Danish culture in Copenhagen, you need to go around the city by bicycle. So on day one of our visit to Copenhagen, we jumped into a bicycle cart, and rode over the park. #Copenhagen #Denmark Frederiksberg Have - Copenhagen has lots of beautiful parks, and we strategically went to one called Frederiksberg Have because it wasn-t far from where we were staying, and there was a restaurant I really wanted to try in the area. Hansens Gamle Familiehave - I love legendary classic restaurants, and Hansens Gamle Familiehave is about as historical and classic as Danish restaurants in Copenhagen get. I went straight for the Hansens lunch platter, which included two platters - first the cold appetizers like herring, and next the hot dishes like pork. Total bill for this huge Danish lunch platter - 718 DKK ($106. 43) Hey Captain - One of the attractions I was most interested in doing during my time in Copenhagen, was to take a boat Copenhagen Canal Tour. Thanks to Visit Copenhagen and Hey Captain, for taking me on this fantastic and luxurious canal boat tour of Copenhagen. The drinks made it even better. Amazing boat tour, highly recommended in Copenhagen. Folkehuset Absalon - Finally for dinner we went o Folkehuset Absalon, a former church that has been opened as a community center coffee shop, and a family style restaurant at dinner. The place is packed every night, people come looking for a social dining atmosphere, sharing tables, and delicious home cooked styles Danish food. Food was delicious. Price - 100 DKK ($14. 82) And that wraps up this tour of Copenhagen, including Danish food and attractions!

That was amazing. The food so different. My dear husband was 1/4 Danish. I wish I could have shown him this. Denmark looks wonderful. His family emigrated to New Zealand in the 1800s when the Germans took over where they lived. He knew one word, I think it was for a pudding. It sounded a little like Glockendespch - can anyone have a guess of what it might have been. He used to say it to make me laugh when we were young bu then he forgot it as he grew old. Thanks for the posting.

We have visited Amsterdam and found it a melting pot of cultures. Denmark and Copenhagen sounds very conservative. Not on the top of my list of visits. Good exposure of the Danish culture which they are protective of and see outsiders only as an economic consequence. I did pick up the comment of the waiters comment of -NO RICE-. My mouth fell open. You and I too, have German ancestry, we love our breads? Don-t judge a book by its cover?

Just for clarification, the -sweet mustard- is homemade -Remoulade- and it as absolutely no taste of mustard. and it was mainly meant for the fried fish. i understand you are not native, and probably have no idea of what goes with what. but you got it to work anyways. for another example the salmon is normally put on the toast -white bread-.

I wish I could have been there to taste the exquisite herring of the first platter at the restaurant. .Very Northern European and comforting food as you said. The Community Centre that served the meals. seems to me like a great place to meet people. reunite with neighbours. .AND To taste fresh. clean. Home cooking. .Thanks Mark. Emily

As a native of Denmark I love your openness. Danes can be so ice cold and inhospitable(It's a Scandinavian thing. Even in the summertime everyone is dressed in black Hospitality has no place in our dictionary. Your attitude is a kick in the shin we respect and sorely need. Thank you.

Mark, you're awesome and have an appreciation for all types of good food internationally. My thoughts are that $106 meal looked like an overpriced underwhelming fancy serving. I liked the little -no rice- chuckle from the dim witted waiter.

How does he stay slim & trim after feasting like that. Food looks fabulous, love danish black bread, the best in the world, unfortunately it's hard to find in America, maybe some danish shops that aren't around much. -

Waitress/waiters makes 22 dollars an hr! Mark really needs to say Danish do not go out to eat often, maybe once a year.
My sister in law is a judge in Copenhagen when we visit we don-t ever go out.
