I HATE when airlines lock the windows on the 787, especially on a day flight. The lack of natural light makes jet lag so much worse, and what’s the point in the big windows if you can’t see anything out of them. If people want to sleep, they give you eyemasks in the amenity kit for a reason
I mean as an aside I do just hate the windows on the 787, the locking is annoying, but when you do actually want to dim them, they don’t block all the light if the sun is shining at you, and since they absorb the light rather than reflecting it, they get really hot and are like a radiator next to you.
Don’t know why Boeing felt the need to add a gimmick like that, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, and old fashioned window blinds aren’t broke lol

For me, it's Air Canada any of the week, but that's because I hold Super Elite status on the airline, and am coming up on my Million Miles with them probably next year. International J is nice, but it's ever so slightly better when you're SE. You might have spotted the Service Director going around the cabin and taking the meal orders from certain passengers, introducing themselves, and taking the meal orders early. Those were the SEs on the flight. There are a couple of other little benefits you get (namely the concierges) that other operators like WestJet just can't touch.

You describe the wifi as quite fast. It's faster than I have in my house in London.
In terms of weird routing, never anything as extreme as that although I do try to fit in routes with long layovers when i travel so that i can see new places.
This year i had one 10 hour layover and one overnight layover in Hong Kong when i visited South East Asia. Then a few years ago, layovers long enough to escape into the city for a few hours on my way to and from a trip to Africa (Doha and Johannesburg respectively.

Thanks for the honest reviews Jeb and Suzanne! A couple of minor correctios, Porter Airlines is also a national airline in Canada, and are beginning new, longer distance flights outside the country. Also, Air Canada flies many A220 aircraft (designed and made in Canada) as their smaller aircraft -you mentioned A320 as their smallest aircraft. Finally, Westjet is, and describes itself, as a 'low-cost carrier'. Keep up the cheerful reviews!

Since you're only comparing two things, shouldn't the title be Canada's BETTER Airline I remember the rules comparative vs superlative adjectives being hammered into me at a young age years ago. Maybe Suzanne and Jeb also learned those tedious grammar rules. Maybe SEO rules are now more important than grammar rules. Other than that, it was a better -- or even a superior -- video.

I take strange routes to get to places all the time. I have so many I can't even remember them all lol.
So yeah you and I are definitely on that same level. Whether it's a new aircraft type that I really want to fly on, or just a long layover at an airport that I really want to explore end io end, I've done some really strange routings.

Is that a Tudor BB58 GMT Coke’ I see I happen to own one on a bracelet and it is an amazing watch! Still waiting to see Jeb with Tim Mosso or Teddy B, speaking about his love for horology!

We did something similar! Made a trip from BOS to LHR and for the return, I found amazing deal on two Turkish Airlines business class 787. So instead of making the 6h flight back to BOS, we flew to the 4h to IST, spent a day there and flew around 11h from IST to BOS. Worth it as we were also able to experience the awesome lounge!

It’s funny how little sleep you can get flying east. We did IAH->IAD->CDG since apparently United doesn’t want to do direct from IAH, and after we got the meal on the IAD-CDG leg I got about 3 hours of sleep. Appreciated being Polaris for it but man my 11 year old child did not appreciate just 3 hours of sleep

to bad Air Canada is so unreliable had so many cancelled late flights over the years wont fly them anymore, and American Airlines doesnt have to celebrate America we all know, guess Air Canada never got the memo, the Govt doesnt own any part of them anymore havent for years. Out the the way routing: Dulles to Lisbon. via Istanbul. Not the craziest routing but had to get in on the Turkish 1, 000, 000 opportunity when I could lol. I have my beef with AC after getting stuck at YYZ for 30 hours because of them but at least I got to enjoy the signature suite 3 times during that lol

Hey guys! I fly out of the way routes ALL THE TIME. I once was in India and wanted to fly Emirates 1st class, so I flew to Bangkok just to fly to London via Dubai on 2 A380s in 1st. Also, next April I'm flying from LAX to Tokyo via Dubai, because I found a fantastic redemption on Emirates in business

Air Canada often gets a bad rap but has had a consistently solid offering. Where they needed improvement was their on time performance, but they have now been at the top of the rankings in North America for 3 consecutive months. They definitley made an effort to fix that, and the results are evident.

WestJet canceled my flight 14hours before departure and only offered an awful 3-connection flight 4 days later. I had insurance, but 9 months later have yet to be reimbursed. I rebooked with Air Canada and had one of the best flight experiences. WestJet just does not care.

I've always preferred Westjet, but if they're going to be truly competitive to AC internationally, they need to be more creative and offer a more memorable experience. Brand loyalty is more important than pricing to an airline on the back foot in a competitive market.

I was lucky enough to fly business class from Montreal to Auckland in 2023 with air Canada. Mtl to vancouver was on a 777 and Vancouver Auckland on a 787-9. I thought the signature seat was a bit bigger on the 787. Oh and the signature lounge in Vancouver was amazing!

Hey Jeb, next time, can you do aircraft against aircraft For example, Delta 737-900 against United 737-900. This gives a chance to see which carrier has the best amenities in its version of the aircraft.
Let me know if you've already done something like this.
