I flew on that plane to Amsterdam in Spring of 2015 and it was one of my favorite airplane rides (not just because I am an avgeek. My seat was 77K. Before we left the gate in Atlanta, I was taking a look at the cockpit and the captain invited me to sit in his seat and take pictures! It was my first and only ride (so far) on an active 747. In 2017, I got to visit the plane at the museum and I was able to return to my seat. It is absolutely my favorite part of the museum and I love looking at it every time I am flying in and out of ATL. Truly an awesome plane! Thanks Jeb for the memories!

My dad recalled watching the first revenue 744 (NW) landing and taking off in PHX from MSP. He was a young teen and remembers a lot of people in the terminal three car park watching with him. So this would mean that 744 at the Delta museum is that same plane then? Cool to think about. By the way my dad watches your videos a lot. Keep up the good work

Man that 747 makes me think, what could old airplanes be used for, because they certainly look impressive. I already know there's an old 747 turned into a hostel in Stockholm hmmm. Maybe one could be used as a lounge at an airport. An Airport lounge onboard an Airplane. It would certainly be unique to say the least. Anyone else with suggestions?

You need to visit the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Associations Museum in Oshkosh Wisconsin. Packed with history. Be sure to check out their website for the schedule, because the hangers that are outside have a bit of a weird schedule. You can fly into Appleton Wisconsin and its only a 20 minute drive. Otherwise its about 90 minutes from Milwaukee.

If you go to the Walt Disney Family Museum in SF, you can see his United luggage tag, his 100, 000 mile one, and a United Pen (as well as his backyard train, a model of Disneyland, and all of his Oscars and Golden Globes. Super cool and highly recommended! The talking parrot at the end is awesome too!

I went there in 2017, but it was a short day trip. We flew DCA-ATL in the morning and back in the evening. Due to my friend wanting me to try the simulator, and us wanting to spot at ATL before our 5: 30 flight back, we didnt have much time to explore the museum. It was still a fun day.

I had the opportunity as a 13 year old to do a Walkaround of a 747-200 sitting out on the tarmac (No jet bridges then) in Riyadh Saudi Arabia at sunrise. This flight started in Seoul South Korea, then Manila, Bahrain, Riyadh and ending in Zurich. It seemed to be the longest flight ever.

I worked for both Panam and TWA in their corporate headquarters in manhattan (strategic route planning)during the 80s/early 90s and remember when delta purchased Panams European routes and then Panam went belly up. showed up for work in the Panam building and doors were padlocked

I remember that POS. We called her a hanger queen. That ship had more problems than the tritantic. If memory serves right the jack screw was cracked on the stabs. But Im old now and its been years since Ive thought about that nightmare

You should plan a trip to Dallas Love Field, review the airport (which is way different than what it was when I saw it last) or the flight. and then have a look at the Frontiers of Flight museum that's on the airport property.

I skipped the opportunity for a return flight on a Delta 747 from LAX to DTW. I regret not going on that flight. Good to see they have one on display, I'll have to go visit next time I'm in Atlanta.

Doesn't this museum have a DC-9, N675MC, on display? I sure hope they didn't scrap it like the Carolinas Aviation Museum did with N779NC. I want to see a DC-9 on display so bad. Miss them terribly.

All of these aircraft are still flyable. The B747-400 would have to have the parts put back into it. Delta has maintained current airworthiness certificates and registrations with the FAA.

Have you ever been to the Pima Air and space museum in Tucson Arizona? It's massive. I want to go someday as well.

I'm amazed Delta hasn't kept examples of the 2 major aircraft in their emergence as, perhaps, the world's most successful airline- the Douglas DC8 & Lockheed L1011.

I think the DC-3 is in a lot of airline museums because the American Airlines C. R. Smith museum in Dallas has one too. I think you should check out that museum too.
