Delta Comfort: Is Premium Economy worth the money?

In this trip report, we'll take a look at Delta Comfort so you can determine whether premium economy is worth the money. We'll highlight the benefits of Delta Comfort and also discuss how to get a seat in Delta Air Lines' premium economy cabin. The flight I took was between Atlanta and Bermuda so that means, in addition to seeing the seat and amenities of the Delta Comfort Premium Economy cabin, there are stunning views of Bermuda's beautiful ocean and beaches (be sure to watch to the very end. A Delta Comfort Review isn't complete without talking about all of the benefits that go along with the more expensive ticket, so we'll be sure to highlight them in the video. Delta Comfort is also known as Delta Comfort+ and Delta Economy Comfort. They're all names for Delta Air Lines' entrant in the Premium Economy category. So, please let me know in the comments section: After watching this Delta Comfort Review, do you think Premium Economy is worth the money?

use Delta/Air France often from Dulles. While the Comfort is worth it (I'm 6' 3) my beef is the chaotic boarding regardless of class. (BTW I hate the class system. who do you think is really paying for 1st or business? we the consumers of companies that pay for their execs and employees to fly) In virtually every airport once the 1st class folks are boarded all the rest is poorly defined, controlled, etc. They really need to rethink: e. g. have one attendant pass along the lines and put people in the right grouping. my 2 cents.

I enjoy flying Comfort Plus with Delta. With that said, Ive discovered that the service and comfort depends on the aircraft you are on. We recently flew home from Seattle after a cruise and I swear the aircraft was built during the 50s! Monitor in seat still had a credit card slot to pay for viewing. First class had same crappy monitor. Half the flight they stopped working and screen froze. Air crew did all they could to correct this no did not work. So yes its worth it, but do your homework and see what type of aircraft you are on.

Overall on Delta the extra legroom is 3-4 inches. Sometimes the schedule and time makes the offer price worthy. Other schedules very expensive for the 3-4 inches. Pricing varies. I am 6-3 and I do get it when a long flight and pricing is not totally out of the question. The boarding, baggage, overhead space perks are more important to some than the really very little room increase. On the vast majority of Delta planes in domestic the seat width is the same as normal economy.

At 6'3, anything less than Comfort+ is unacceptable. So for tall men like myself, it's definitely worth it. But if you're not in any need of the extra legroom, save your money. Also bear in mind that Sky Priority status for Comfort+ does not give you access to the priority line at the baggage check-in desk. So as far as I'm concerned, it's only worth it if you need the legroom.

Jeb you mentioned that in Delta Sky Club was only available to you on your International flight to Bermuda because of your AMEX membership. but you have top tie Medallion status? Im Gold Premier on United and can use the United Club on International flights no matter what class of service Im traveling. great review. as I have opportunity to fly Delta from YVR in the near future.

I agree with pretty much everyone else. I never travel economy anymore; just too damned cramped! now it's comfort plus or first. If I'm alone or with my GF I usually opt for first but if there's more than three of us it's just as good in comfort plus as we have the whole row to ourselves and you do get the option for food and cocktails, albeit at a price. Great video as always!

Hey Jeff, always enjoy watching your videos! I noticed you did a transcons premium flights between American, Delta, United &Jet Blue. Great videos however was wondering if you can do some of those same flights maybe in regular economy class and would love to see what your favorite airline in regular economy class is! As always looking forward to your next video!

Nice to have a reviewer say their height when reviewing the seat. Based on your legroom, this is my minimum to not have my knee in the seat in front of me. I wish rather than paying $150 more for one of the comfort plus seats we all just paid $50 more and we all got seats with a humane amount of legroom, but such is not to be in the race to the bottom.

Prior to the pandemic, my employer used to fly us on Delta (4-6 flights a month) and they'd always be in Comfort +. I enjoy the priority boarding and drinks of course but that extra legroom makes it all worthwhile. Plus I believe you earn a few more frequent flyer miles than with basic economy as well. Definitely worth the extra cash in my opinion.

I'm overdue to see my parents in Tucson AZ--last time I flew anywhere was in 2014, DL from IAH-SLC-TUS, going home it was an MD-90 TUS-ATL, --MD88 ATL-IAH--looking at the Delta website, looks like they fly the 737-900 between ATL-TUS, am tempted to try out Delta Comfort for the 3hr jaunt for the first time

Fails to mention that you have to PAY for delta sky club even if you have an amex platinum. It's not really a benefit if you have to pay their annual 200 dollar fee to use the card AND pay 29 per person to use the sky club, what kind of snake oil is this? Or how dumb are people anyway?

If that's Delta's equivalent of premium economy (and is priced similarly to other carriers' premium economy) then it falls a long way short. On other carriers you get about 6-8 inches of extra legroom, a better bar service and a step up in food compared to economy.

When i travel back and forth from the states to Puerto Rico i usally travel Comfort+ depending on ticket pricing and aircraft. Being 6ft 4in tall the extra leg room is always a BIG +. Have you traveled to Puerto Rico Jeb? Would love to see a video. Thank you.

Does Delta use the 3-3 configuration on international flights.
I am planning on a trip to Germany I would not like to fly on 3-3 configuration that for across the Atlantic. does anyone know what type of planes that they use to fly to Frankfurt

reply

Yes, any upgrade that you can afford is worth it.
Just like the Main Cabin on American Airlines.
I would be happy to fly Delta but I am 300 miles away from ATL and only 90 from Charlotte NC. So you know what airline I am on all the time.

Im debating on choosing either Comfort + or an exit row (Row 18 specifically) on my Atlanta to Tampa flight on the 737-800. Im 67 and it seems the exit row would be far superior for leg room. Especially on a short hop like that. Opinions?

I'm sitting at the gate in Greensboro, North Carolina, wondering what Comfort Plus is like; they just gave me a free upgrade from regular Economy. Thanks for clearing it up. Looking forward to infinity peanuts and pretzels.

Delta comfort was well worth the money onmy trip between NY JFK and Rome FCO. this was a long flight and a wide body aircraft. However a shorter flight from JFK to TPA a much smaller plane was usedand i could see no benefit.

This is a great video! And for the first time, I've purchased a comfort+ seat for my flight to Cuba! So I'm really looking forward to enjoying the amenities and benefits of a comfort+ seat!

I got bumped to Comfort Plus on DL Connection CRJ-900 with Endeaver from TPA-CVG and found the legroom amazing, even more than the standard economy seat on the mainline 737-800 I had going down!

I checked out when flying from Seattle back to Raleigh/Durham. It was well worth the extra cost. I was not as tired as I was when I flew out the 1st time. Great product for longer flights.
reply

Yes it is worth it I am flying in 2 weeks 6 days to London England getting bulkhead comfort plus seets totaly worth it hopefully I will get some sleep on the flight its a night flight
reply

I just want a airplane seat where my fat stays in my seat and likewise of the person next to me. Airlines needs to stop making seats Smaller than the average person, height and width
reply

How come I can't find a Delta 767-400 Premium select review? Everything seems to be Delta One. I am flying from ATL to Heathrow Premium Select and curious about this selection.
reply

You should fly Delta's new, real Premium Economy on their A350. From what I've seen (haven't had the chance to check it out in person yet) it blows Comfort+ out of the water.
reply

You talked about larger seats as compared to economy - are the seats LARGER? I know the pitch is better and I may be fatter than you - to me width is the thing I look for.
reply

Absolutely it's worth it! My husband and I are both pretty tall and we have plenty of leg room. We always purchase the Delta Comfort or United Economy Plus when we fly.
