There should never be an empty seat in J. The upgrade list usually extends down to anybody who has a co-branded credit card. If they cannot give away these seats, they should sell them at the gate as they used to. On my last international trip for a family of 4, 3 of us had award seats in J, while one daughter was in Y, because there were no award seats. It turned out that the business class was essentially empty. The FA was willing to accept $500 in cash to upgrade my daughter, but she was overruled by the Purser.

When you made that video, I wonder if we appreciated how rare flying on the 747 would become?
If there's one flight I want to do, it's Lufthansa business class on a 747 (either the 400 or 8 - either is good. I've always wanted to fly on the Queen of the Skies, but never managed anything bigger than a 767!
I think the business class may have been refreshed since then? Not sure - even if mir, I'm sure it'll be more luxurious than a Jet2 757 (which was fine, but definitely low cost.

I found those business class seats a bit odd, because I'm quite tall (as you are as well) and felt like, there was no privacy at all. Everyone could see everyone, including what the others were watching. And amazed that they didn't change the seats for the new 350s. I have to admit, my first time in business class, was on American Airlines, which was just wonderful, so that's a hard act to follow.

I noticed that when you said the word, schedule you did not say shed-yule which is how Brits pronounce it so we bloody yanks must have rubbed off on you.
You said sked-dzul which is how the Americans say it. I am an American and Anglophile so I both love my country + Britain and Scotland.

Do you ever fly economy? Many passengers cannot afford Business class. It would be interesting to see more videos of flights the average person actually takes. Enjoyable show! Same thing for airport lounges. We never have been in one, where does the average person spend time in an airport?

I flew with Lufthansa once from Frankfurt to San Francisco on a 747-8. I normally fly from Edinburgh-Heathrow-San Francisco with British Airways but went via Frankfurt for a change. I was very impressed with the whole experience and I might fly with them again sometime.

Yes about the seats, I was elevated quite high and did not now how to adjust the controls. I flew Lufthansa biz class 10 years ago. Perhaps, I should have ask the crew for assistance. I was too shy then and practised when everyone was sleeping. Awkward

Honestly, long range or ultra long range flights (9 hours+ nonstop) are the only flights I'd purposefully only take business or first class on only. I can sit in an economy seat for up to 9 hours nonstop but after that, I'd be getting driven insane.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. I always dreamed of flying with one of these first-class aircrafts, like Lufthansa. I am here 'cos I saw a video from a vlogger named James Asquith. Content-wise, very great videos.
more videos like these please!

I'd be interested to find out what the noise level is like on the dash8, i've admonished the dash400 in the past for the level of noise (okay I was in economy, but it was ridiculously loud compared to the more modern jets I've been on.

I set up my first international trip for next spring, so of course I'm flying top deck on a 747! Flying across the country by myself has been a bit of a weird thing, so going to Germany will be interesting to say the least.

These flights pass daily over my house in Algeria, especially at night. roma with ITA. It is a wonderful feeling when I am watching you via Radar Fly. You can imagine the long period, a strange feeling mixed with fear and pleasure

Was Lufthansa ever rated 5 stars? By whom? On my last RTW trip, they were the worst of 5 airlines. If you are looking to Skytrax, that is a pay-for-play scheme, and it should be give no credence whatsoever.

Their 747-8 is nice. I remember I went on it 4 1/2 years ago to go to India. I did Boston to Frankfurt, then Frankfurt to Mumbai. They were both 747s and the service and seats were very great.

When traveling across the world meant a chance of death and/or months at sea and perilous land journeys.
Now it's The crew were handing out pyjamas whilst the traveller sips on champers; )

Have flown Lufthansa Busines Class from the US to Europe a number of times==and back. No complaints. Great flights considering I get them on my free MileagePlys points on United's program.

Frankfurt is just huge. I had to regularly walk the entire length of Terminal 1, for a connecting flight I did. It was a fast paced 45 minute walk, definitely didn't need the gym that day.
