hey folks awesome video I am embarking abroad later this fall for the first time and have a few follow up questions. the plan is open ended but to start in New Zealand, jump to Australia, and feel it out from there, but the intention is to float around for as long as possible. I was wondering if these backpacks are conducive to the traditional tent/pad/sleeping bag style of backpacking? or if these would be more suited to jumping in between hostels? I keep thinking I should be looking at a 70 or even 80L packs to lug around a tent and bag but am afraid I'll regret the extra weight soon after getting started. And not sure how long I could go for constantly blowing cash on hostels. Was looking to also do some climbing but am not gonna mess with lugging gear around, just my shoes I'm thinking. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated: )

Loved the video Unfortunately I watched this after I recieved the one I ordered haha. Luckily a lot of the things you recommended looking for in a bag mine also has. I do have one question for you. How tall are you guys and how much do you weigh? The reason I ask is I purchased the Deuter Traveler 70+10 which is 70 liters with a 10 liter detachable day bag. I am however 6'2 and 200 pounds. Have you ever tried out any of the Deuter bags or the Traveler specifically. The other one I was looking at was the Deuter Quantum. I have yet to go anywhere with the Traveler but it seems like it will be a good fit for me. Thanks again for all of the great tips

Use a quality duffel bag that is carry on compliant and then a daypack backpack or messenger bag for your laptop and electronics and incidentals. There are many duffels that have backpack straps and they hold much more than those do it all backpacks. All those bright colored do it all's make people look like tourists. You want to look like a local when traveling. Local thieves always rob the tourists and scam the tourists. Duffel bags are classy, though, and hold a lot. And won't get damaged if you get forced to check your bag. You should never carry your passport, wallet, money, or phone in your bag. These things should be on your person.

Osprey makes the best bags hands down I backpacked New Zealand with my Manta AG 36 (a backpacking backpack with a front loading zipper) carrying 15 kilos of camera, camping, and other travel gear- and it fit it ALL. The reason I opt for a smaller bag is because I'm a brutally efficient packer, but I have chronic back pain, so I can't carry too much weight. But Osprey's genius design and internal frame meant I could carry all of my gear on an 8 hour hike over a mountain without pain. I've heard great things about the Farpoint, but if you need some serious support and can make your gear fit, I would strongly suggest the Manta series.

My Travel tips: -Look Poor wherever you go-Wallet always in the front pocket-Buy a Gym Sack / Knapsack for your daily bag, they can roll up real nice-Download Google Translate and download the language for offline use. -Make 3 copies of your passport and put them in different places-Buy a SIM card for the country you are in so you can use the internet / make calls-Bring floss and buy mouthwash in the country you go to. This is instead of a toothbrush and toothpaste. Dentists say if you can only do one, you should do floss anyway. -Fold your clothes correctly by rolling them-Learn basic phrases in each country

Hi guys. Im planning a trip to europe and Asia. I have a pacsafe 45 and a osprey Atmos 65. I bought the pacsafe especially for this trip. i love my hiking packs. I just love them. I see you guys dont recommend to use a hiking pack. what are the reasons. the pacsafe is very small I think. not much bigger than a childs school bag really. I see a lot of the young travelers with their school bag pack packs and the older type of traveler use the hiking type. you guys seem to be experienced in world travel and I would like to know your reasons why you would not recommend a hiking pack. Thanks guys

Do either of you guys walk around with the front bag? Alex? About to embark on my 6 month trip around South America, and then will likely teach English abroad somewhere there or head to either Thailand or S Korea to teach. Farpoint is what I am looking at, probably 55 or 40 liter. Can you carry on 55 liter? Might try out Redwing Kelty at REI today. Purchased Motherload bag but no hip support is tough, right? I mean. It is not like we are going to be wearing these bags a lot outside of the airport, because your either in your hostel, on a bus, or on the plane and so your bag is not on your back.

what is the point of having a day bag really? if I need an extra bag why don't I just bring my gym bag and put only cloths in my gym bag, important shits only on my backpackand I am just wondering, how often do you get pickpocketed? I am trying to see what feature I should prioritize. I always feel like, if they are not straight up robbing you, being careful and try not be dumb is enough to avoid pickpocketing, like don't leave your bags unattended, don't put on headphones when you are out and about, mind your surroundings, look around, I don't even keep things in my pants pockets.

I have the Osprey Farpoint 55 (40L main pack + 15L day pack = 55L total) This is hands-down, in my opinion, the best pack on the market. I traveled a month in Egypt with this bag and I'm about to roll with it to Tanzania for a month. It locks closed easily and it's brilliant with compression cubes. I've never loved a bag more The only thing I wish I'd done differently with mine is get the S/M size. The M/L size is a touch too big for my 5' frame. But, it's not enough of an issue to make me love it any less

I realize that I am a huge dickhead for posting this reaction, but I gave a negative review because there is something about the framing of these guy's videos. The way that every shot has a light positioned in such a way that their eyes always have that reflection, which combined with their constant eye contact, makes me feel like they are attempting to seduce the viewer. I WILL NOT FALL VICTIM TO YOUR MANIPULATION TACTICS SIRS Nice try though.
