I took a sabbatical right after highschool and would'nt change that year for anything. I went to Vietnam for 3 months to volunteer in an orphanage, traveled around Vietnam and Cambodia and went to Buenos Aires Argentina for 4 months to improve my spanish and 1 month of traveling through Argentina, Chile, Peru and Bolivia. This was the best year of my life. I've learned sooo much about myself, the world surrounding me. My advice is just do it. if you don't do it know you'll regret it. It's just a year. A year means so little compared to how long we live. If you don't like your job, save up money and quit it, go live your life, experience freedom, new cultures, new people. One thing that I will tell to my children is to travel as much as they can and take a year off.

I turn 20 in a week and of course I dream of quitting my gas station job and traveling the world. Its just overwhelming that at 20, you get hundreds of perspectives and voices trying to tell you what you should do. I have a plan in mind on how to travel and still get paid, which has been shut down many times by dream killers (something an inspirational speaker said) but Im still gonna try I am going into nursing school and I hope to work with first aid hospitals in third world/war torn countries as well as places like rural India where medical care may not be A+. Volunteer or paid, I get to do what I want and travel for it I get to help people and travel which is everything I want: ) thanks Brothers for inspirational video. #nurtureyourdreams

Utter crap and nonsense. You're trying to claim the intellectual high ground thinking you're woke. Reality is, society would not be able to function if people just quit their jobs and traveled full time. Its actually the cowardice thing to do, neglecting your responsibilities to contribute to society. When I was a teenager, I use to be stuck up and demean normal jobs but I soon realized that these jobs are nothing but ordinary. Every job has its differences and youre not special just because you travel. In fact, youre probably the ordinary one, its easy to just run away, its much harder to find a real job and be good at it. There are people trying to cure cancer and then, well, there's you.

I just recently started my job about 3 weeks ago. My buddy Jak from Thailand is working with me there. He is teaching me to speak Thai as I help with his US citizenship test. In about two years he will be returning to Thailand to his girlfriend and asked me to come along. He and I both invest our money into Wal-Mart, Nike etc. We will possibly have to quit our job and our plan is to leave on good terms. If I were to decide to leave with him and stay away and possibly visit some other countries on my down time about how much would you recommend I have to travel Asia for 3 or 4 months to (maybe) a year?

Thanks for the tips guys Your videos have inspired me to make travel videos, as well as a series where I interview trumpet players around EuropeWhat I've run into now is that even though I'm being frugal with my money, transportation, food, and hostels (only used for emergencies when I can't find a Couchsurfing host or know anyone I could crash with in the city) are starting to add up. Any tips for making money on the road or to get people to sponsor my travel? Anyone have tips or tricks that have worked for them?

This video is just what I needed, color me inspired What is your advice for someone like me who is in a long-term relationship (4 years dating, living together, and he JUST accepted a full-time position for his new career) with someone who is afraid to fly? We are going to Spain next month, but after that I may need to solo travel which freaks me out. I have a full-time job too which I'm settling into. I'm thinking of taking maybe a month off for sabbatical? Please reply I love you both

I hadn't travelled for 5 years. I decided to go visit Jamaica and visit family for only a meager 2 weeks. It transformed my life Long story short, I will use my skills away from the health industry to get into property development and create a tourism and hospitality in the countryside of the Caribbean. I managed to get 5-1/2 weeks off end of and beginning of the financial year to get relevant time off. It's awesome welcome to my world on the road- Peace and One Love

Those opening questions were the video may be titled How to Quit Your Job, but for me the most valuable part was spending time to introspect why you want this sabbatical in the first place and setting expectations. Going into a sabbatical without concrete results for how it will make you better is a recipe for aimlessness and sabbatical burnout Thanks Vagabros

Awesome video as always guys I managed to actually do both, I work in software development so all I need to work is wifi and my mac (and a desk doesn't hurt) and I've always loved traveling, so I made a deal with my boss to work while traveling I've been backpacking for 100 days in France already and with no return date in the horizon; )

I am planning to quit my job to go on my dream vacation in south america. My company does not offer sabaticals, and paid sabaticals are just unheard of, don't even dream about that. I am planning to save enough money and in 10 months, i'm gonna be just like in minute 4: 35: screw you, screw you, i'm out. ' loooool
