How I Get My Gear (plus an Update On My Current Situation and Gear Testing) Philip: I don t have a problem with a reviewer getting free products to test, as long as the gear review is honest, I have friends who actually charge the companies for reviews but as part of the agreement they state that they will not be influenced by the vendors, and they will provide an open honest review and sometime the vendors get pissed as they bag the crap out of it, if it s terrible and also provide feedback on the outcomes of customer service oh and not in the camping or hiking world.

Really love you, Dixie. I don't much mind sponsored reviews as long as the sponsorship is communicated, but it's nice not having to keep that conflict of interest present in my mind. Also true that support for sponsored reviewers is no doubt the best support the company offers and may not be an accurate picture of typical experience.
Sorry to hear about your Dad. I take your positive attitude to mean that he's recovering well. Best wishes for you, your Dad and all of your loved ones.

Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery for your Dad! I'm not sure why, but I never thought your reviews were anything but 100% truthful and honest. Never even occurred to me that your opinions might be sponsored or bought and paid for. I guess it's because you love what you do and that shows through in every single video. Keep doing what you're doing, and we'll keep watching and hitting that Thumbs Up button!

While you are not an influencer in the definition of the term as it relates to Marketing, you are most certainly an influencer. You have influenced many people with your informational videos (myself included, and your common sense, and trustworthy approach to providing that information. While I m sure making this lifestyle a career is not easy, I applaud you for doing what you love, and making it work.

Nice and honest. However, I see nothing wrong with being sponsored by a company that actually cares about more than just customers & gear reviews. Sawyer is my example here, with all they have done. Other than that, buying it and testing it is a great, honest way to recommend a certain item or brand. Best wishes for your father, Dixie!

I just got a 30 headband (Outdoor Research) from Moosejaw, it has a velcro closure, which sucks, so I just got a return ship label. THIS ASSHOLE COMPANY WANTS 8 to return this 25 item. DO NOT BUY FROM MOOSEJAW (which btw was just bought by. WalMart)

Fancy Mae is the influencer and getting sponsored, right? 8D
On a serious note, I'm glad your Dad is on the mend and will be coming home shortly. Yeah, the Bingo Card for 2020 has been blown for almost everyone, one way or another.

I do hope your Dad pulls thru! :) I'm still at Trinka Davis Veteran's Village, in Carrollton, GA. Don't worry yourself about it! There are a lot of us who are pulling for you! Hopefully I'll be able to leave in 2022. Semper Fidelis

If a company sends me gear I have no qualms about giving it a bad review. I always want to be truthful and honest with my viewers. I only take money from companies for a sponsored video of I already love the company and product.
