Update 18: More Reunions & What's in My Pack?

Dixie explains what's in her pack and gets some new gear. MarginWalker: I hiked with several people who had gravity systems and it was annoying waiting for them to filter their water- like, as much as 20 minutes often times. Sawyer squeeze -not the mini- on a Smart Water bottle is the way to go. Fill the bottle, drink right from it through the filter. Ditch those Sawyer bags immediately- they are crap.

Aww that's so sad. It looks like an African Pygmy Hedgehog, which is actually a hybrid species that was developed to be pets. It is very unlikely it would survive a winter the US. :( The hedgehogs that used to live in the US are extinct.

Good video! Makes me feel actually good about my choice for a Sawyer Mini for overnighters if one lasted 1/3 the AT. I don't need it daily and it's cheap and light. Also good to know about the rain coat. I've got the same one.

did you cheak him or her for a green card? or did you give him or her the runway hotline number? poor thing hope it live through the winter. i would have taken it with me. there not native to the americas.

Take all those instant breakfasts and dump then into a single zip lock bag and do away with the weight of all those packages. And do it for a lot of the other single serve items in packages

That is crazy that you all found a hedgehog. It had to be someone's domestic pet that they let loose. Usually they will die pretty fast outside since they can't get below 50-60 degrees.

The Hedgehog may survive. They are native to Great Britain and all the way into Scandinavia. They hibernate in the winter. Kinda sad that it will never find another of it's kind, though.

Awe, poor hedgehog. Someone must have released it from captivity. I doubt it will survive. Kind of an amazing find out there. I wonder what the chance of a run in like that is.

One good thing about the gravity system is you can filter 2 liters of clean water AND when setting camp refill the dirty 2 liter and carry 4 liters to camp. saves steps.

what size pack do you carry? I noticed you're carrying an Osprey Aura with that sweet anti gravity system, but is it the 65L or the 50L?
