Dixie. I am planning a 2 or 3 day section hike in the Smokys. It will ne my 21 yo son's first backpacking trip. I am trying to convince him to hike the full AT with me I am 62.
My hope is to be a trail angel for some through hikers and maybe Connor will be inspired to hike the AT with me.
Our window to hike is end if Sept till 1st week of Oct. We are in Charlotte NC. where can we likely to meet through hikers in the Smokys in that time period? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. jay. jenkins. homefrontgmail. com

Dixie, I can remember reading The High Adventure of Eric Ryback when I was a teenager. Carrying an 80 pound pack he apparently went weeks without meeting another hiker while being the first to hike the PCT. I had fantasized about duplicating that trek. Alas, it wasn't to be and my bucket list appears so long that I probably won't make that one. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you while you take on this amazing adventure.

That was awesome! Thanks for sharing all that! Also all the information videos on equipment, Its seriously helpful. I have wasted so much money buying all the wrong crap. Your videos have been amazing. a few others I've watched are kinda funny, if you want to laugh, a hilbilly trying to give a working example of a short handled axe: ) you've seen them I'm sure. well thanks again your the best

I don't know what it is about you Dixie but I've been watching all of your videos nonstop since I discovered you yesterday. I'm 19 years old and I am scared for my future, but watching your videos makes me think that I am capable of, and strong enough, to live a life I truly think is worth living. Damn, Dixie! These videos are so inspiring and so well cut. Minute 17 was only the first of many time i realy got goose bumps. Thanks to you i am goming to cross the alps, either next year or the year after, depending on the corona situation.

I just went out and tried to do a 15 miles section in the Marble Mountains on the PCT and couldn't finish. I'm going to eat some ice cream now and brood. BTW What the heck was that big explosion on the mountain?

Thank you for all your videos, I watched almost all of them and it drove me to do my first thru-hike! I just completed the GR20 across corsica and I wanted to thank you for that! Keep up the good work!

Dixie, you are a beast in the best sense, 62 miles! Damn! I watched another person's PCT vid and it was cool that they showed you appreciation as one of the most experienced packers.
